Digital Tutors "Rendering technics in XSI"?

I just want to know if someone have bought this DVD at Digital Tutors. You can see the product description here: http://www.digitaltutors.com/store/p...6&cat=0&page=1

Take a look at the overview lesson sample, I think it's a good way to learn better how to use the XSI render!

It seams nice! Although for a poor Foundation user like me the FX tree is not included :-(

But I do like the speed and pedagogy(spellcheck) on their tutorials.

One thing about Digital tutors DVD I dont like is that its not downloadable. Otherwise I would have bought the whole bunch. Cannot understand why they dont sell a download version. And its US, so add shippingcharges, VAT and waiting for european customers. But its still not that expensive.

I took the plunge and bougth the Production series "pst2 vol 2,3 and 4. from
3D tutorial.com.

I have watched through vol 2 and its looong! A lot about changing the interface, creating workgroups and installing python and shaders, stuff like that. It was kind of hard to follow. Im a bit scared of changing the interface
unless Im totaly in control.

A lot about texturing and making textures in photoshop. Maybe too much photoshop in my point of view. There is not my weak point in XSI, but for
someone who is interrested in texturing that its perfect!

I think the sound was very poor, and I lost focus from time to time. Maybe its
my player? I will go through vol 3 and 4 and give a quick review if someone is interrested.

I got the whole set when I fist got XSI 4.0... showed me everything I need to know. I still go back to them from time to time. Great resource.

I agree with JakalDesign on this one... some of the technical rendering information on those DVDs are just superb, and really help with learning Mental Ray.

xsi render dvd from digital tutors

Hi Thomas
I bought the dvd and can recommend it, as it covers the material manager and the render tree. I have the essentials version and the dvd also covers the compositor tree and shows how you can completely change the final render in real time without re-rendering, and also the fantastic depth of field camera of which can also be done in real time. I found it very good, I have bought many titles from digital tutors and I'am going through walkcycles and rigging at the moment. the only title i wish i had'nt bought was the interior modeling,as 90% of it is pretty basic and common sense.
