Digital tutors have good DVDs for XSI, like the introduction to XSI. It's not too expensive to learn the basis of the software. But don't expect to high end features covers by this set of DVDs ;)

Congratulations! You've made the best 400 dollar investment you could in 3d Software. There isn't anything you cannot do in XSI, (well, you cannot make a good cup of coffee with it )

I'll be posting some of my stuff soon. Make sure to watch the Digital Tutors Free tutorials AND get the LowXSIMan Rig!

Congrats Mox!... Welcome to the club, hope you enjoy it. Personally I am skipping version 6, not enough changes to upgrade... but congrats!

I would recomend the DVDs from Softimage... its a set of 5, helped me out alot. I dont know if they offer them anymore though.

For the softimage DVD, my only regret is that they are in a TV format, I mean, to watch on a DVD player, and not as a DVD rom. The quality isn't as good as a real DVD training which is designed to be view on a PC/Mac

From what I have heard, you are not the only one having these problems. Alot of people are having problems because in version 6 they went to a nobe lock based system.

Heart

Yes, congrats, I myself moved up from V5 FND to V6 ESS (my package arrives tomorrow - Safe Harbor's reduced pricing ($350/$1295 was just too good to miss up on at the time!)

For me, I got some great books from Amazon.com; Softimage XSI 5 Official Guide (just finishing that one up now), Experience XSI 4 - Character and the Illuminated books...

The tutorial discs are good too but some are based on older versions of SI and be careful because some don't run on laptops too well (some are authored at 1280x1024 and if your laptop resolution is less you're training is hosed - make sure you check those details out first!)

I upgraded my FND4.2 to 6.0 from Safe Harbor also. Don't forget to check out the Digital Tutors free tutorials on their site. They really are quite informative. Their other tutorials are good to. Check them out!

Definitely congrats!! XSI is amazing!

Haven't made the XSI 6 upgrade yet (finances, and currently working in some other apps), hoping to get the chance somewhere down-the-road.

Looking forward to seeing your results!!
