Plant/Trees Tutorial

Over time I have been asking for some more, indepth, tutorials of this Carrara item. I find the Advanced Properties room not only difficult to understand but very subject to easily crashing Carrara.
I have been looking at the new free demo of the Verdant Plant Mechanic app which seems to be more in line with perhaps my way of doing things. I would much prefer to become Carrara Plant fluent.
Any help and advice is welcome.

There's 2 schools of thought I guess, either use the pre-mades or model them yourself. I have done both just as exercises and got some help on a bonzai from patrick and made my own with the editor, which taught me alot. One thing about Carrara is that you could spend alot of time finding out what does what in the advanced editors, but after awhile alot of it becomes less mysterious and more familiar. The tree editor (plant is a misnomer I think) is fairly intuitive after a couple of hours of experimenting. I'd like to see more adanced settings in the new clouds now and I'm trying to make a thunderhead like you'd see in Colorado or Kansas.

Oh, yes please. I'm working with the "plant maker" right now; texturing the mapler tree. I made a black walnut, well almost. I couldn't figure out how to get chaos nareld branches, and have the last generation straight. I also couldn't figure out how to pull it down, increse the gravety????. I'd also like to be able to uvwrap the leaves; here getting a tutorial right now.
I'll play with this a bit later, see if I can get a plant; usually I use Plant studio to make plants.

I played with it a while and tried to figure how to put a realistic texture of the bark. Sort of a close-up effect. There seems to be no options about it. Even the roots don't appear to have any. Yeah, we need lots of tutorials in this almost forgotten, but definitely advanced feature.

The Carrara5.1 update for the plant application still seems, as already reported by others, to easily crash if you don't do everything "correctly". We really do need still a Cajomi quality tutorial urgently.

I like the fact that they added the ROOTS option in there, although not as comprehensive as I had expected. About crashes, haven't encountered any in general. Of course, I don't spend a lot of time with C5 yet.

I'm with you bwtr, we need lots of EXPERT tutorials on tree generation. No doubt, Carrara is very capable of producing realistic lanscape sceneries. They look almost real as if they're taken by a camera!

Well just so you don't feel alone, bwtr, when I first updated to 5.1 and tried editing a tree at work (lowly DELL pc), I got a hard hang and had to close the app, restarting it and here at home, I haven't had it happen again but it does feel a little 'soft' - perhaps because of the lack of documentation...

I have to say though I'm GLAD Eovia has touched up Carrara a bit more in this area! Having the nicer clouds would be another nicety for sure!
