Hello, interesting site with good mix of interests

I am new to 3D art; nominally, I am a ceramics, paint artist. I got started
on this road to possible financial stress ( its almost as bad as paints/brushes)
with a simple goal of finding a replacement for my little wood mannikin for
figure studies. I saw POSER in an art magazine and then while searching ran
into DAZ, and their Free offers gave me a chance to get my feet a little wet.
Luckily, I have a longtime background with computers and programming and
also with human anatomy, since I taught it at the college level for over 30
years before I became an "art student" on retirement, so I could install
and get the programs to work, and they did satisfy my initial need, But........

Wouldn't it be better if the models had hair and other feature? Yes. What
about facial and body morphs? Yes, Background props will help with
perspective and of course Bryce output would really let me see what I
want, before using expensive canvus and oils.... I didn't realize that DAZ
was leading me into the "paper dolls" addiction . With my science
and research background, I had to know how this process worked, so I
downloaded demos to try my hand at the "mesh" level and now I not
only am using money to buy extras, I am using Time......, but for some
reason I am happy about it ..go figure. So like most addictions, I am up
late at night, haggard, annoying my friends with "vertices, morphs, render,
etc, and going to different forums to get my share of opinions on more
software..... If there is a 12 step program for this, sign me up.

A rather long intro, but I get enough from the board, that I should give
back more than "hello".

If you are dreaming about software discounts, google academic vendors,
as most of the major players have a great discount. Well, back to my
lurking. Pred.
