As a 3D newbie, I just have to say what the heck is going on?! From a software point of view it's pretty tough to keep up with who the players are and which programs/companies are worth the effort.
Let me see... MetaCreations, err... I mean Corel owns Bryce... ooops Daz owns Bryce, yeah that's it. Cararra and Hexagon are from Eovia... no that's not right -- Daz owns them too. Somebody owns Poser... Content Paradise maybe? Cararra, if I'm not mistaken, started out as Raydream Studio owned by your guess is as good as mine! Hexagon shows some promise, but apparently is incredibly buggy. People seem to hate or love Daz depending on the time of day or the moon phase or something. ...And that's not even scratching the surface. The big players that will cost thousands of dollars per seat. Blender, which is apparently free, but a pretty tough learning curve do to a powerful/complicated interface.
I must have missed that roller coaster sign at the entrance!
