Jus saying hello!

Just wanted to say hello. I've been looking for a Carrara forum for a while now, but most of them seem to be very very slow going or even hardly alive.

Then I found this one just a few minutes ago. Looking at the dates and forum post this must be the most active one around.

I've been using Carrara for about 3 months now and I'm getting used to it. I'm not new to 3D have used a number of applications before. I mainly will be using Carrara to create items needed for my comics and for my game projects.

I don't think you'll be seeing much renders created by me using Carrara, since that's not my main focus of using Carrara. But you can expect renders like the attached ones, where I'm showing items made with Carrara.

The futuristic 'world' is screenshot is of a futuristic tycoon type game I'm working on. Some items are from Poser content, others are mine. All was rendered and animated (and my own stuff also created) in Carrara. This is a spare time project, using Carrara in game project as the main tool.

The pre-historic 'world' screenshot is from my main game I'm working on at the moment. All of the buildings have been designed in Carrara. But Carrara is only used as design tool in this project.

That's a cool stuff! Glad to see that Carrara is used in game creations!
I know another user which use Carrara to do sprites for a Flash/Director game, but can't remember the name....
And welcome here!

Thanks for the welcome! I know of a few more considering using Carrara for game design. Carrara as is can be used great for sprites, but for 3D games it would need some additions like DirectX import/export and poly reduction options or even LOD (level of detail) tools.

I like your tycoon game picture a lot. A few years ago I tried to make a game like that, but had no 3d programs. Now I have no time/talent to make one. I only know how to program, and even that, is a craft not well, well, crafted. Sorry for my bad english.

Thanks. The tycoon game is my fun project. I'm only working on it when I've got some spare time. Caveman's World is my next official project, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to use the same base engine for my Tycoon type game.

You can actually now play a preview version of Caveman's World, http://www.gamefun4u.nl/page13.html
