Just when I got Good at Poser...then came Carrara

Hi, all. I started my 3D projects as a fun, easy way to make illustrations for my stories. Easy! Ha, Ha, Ha... . I am picky about the renders truly looking the way I want, so I was busy editing skin textures and cloth before I even knew how to move a camera!
Now that I can really handle poser, along comes Carrara. I was most tempted to use Carrara because I am tired of Poser's frequent crashes.
I sure hope it handles better. It certainly looks good.
Anyway, I am looking everywhere for little tutorials to help me learn my way around Carrara.

There are some free ones here to start with and also on the Tutorials thread here at Polyloop. There are lots around!

Welcome to Carrara. I have Poser 5,6 and 7 and really dont use them at all. Everything of Poser stuff in my apps is directly accessable within Carrara now anyway in the odd instance where I may use a Poser item.
.
I have had all the versions of Carrara since 2 (Currently C6Pro) and Carrara is what I use almost 90% for everything. Carrara and Photoshop are the two apps that are open all day, every day.

Well at leat you got around with Poser - I am still struggling. I also look for a more natural look, which is hard with Poser.
At this moment I am learning Hexagon to model. Have Carra 6 Pro also, but got lost a bit with that one. Was trying to learn Amapi Pro as well. But I think it is a bit too much for me (or anyone else).
Will dive into Carrara when I have models that are good enough for rendering!

Hope you like it here!

Success! Hooray!

I read every tutorial in existence, I logged on to Mark Bremmers' series on VTC, I followed the forums and finally, one day, I understood Carrara!

Now I am like a kid with a new toy. Thanks all. I will post some images for viewing as soon as my inner perfectionist gives approval.
