| Vertex ![]() | Hello Everyone Nice to be here! Been a traditional artist (mostly sketching) since I was a teener. Began exploring computer based art in 1995. Actually have a BA in Studio Art since 2001. I've logged most of my time in Photoshop, dabbled in AfterEffects, Premier and Dreamweaver. Acquired Bryce 8 or 10 years ago, as well as Poser 4 (my how time flies). But, after all is said in done, I am not active in the Art world. However, I finally have some poster work up on myspace. How that for marketing? My art is mostly message driven and embodies my moral and philosophical beliefs. Okay, enough about me for a first post. I have upgraded to the DAZ 6.1 Bryce version and become a platinum member. I purchased Hexagon 2 for a very nice price. BUT, after a couple of hours, it seemed to become unstable and slowed down my system. I have a fairly good system (I thought) 4.2 gig dual processor w/512 RAM. I would welcome any thoughts on why this may have happened. Also, one more request. Bryce 6.1 notes claim to take advantage of dual processor technology. Is there anything the user must do to maximize this feature/improvement? Is this a long post? If so, apologies. Thank you for having me. |

| Lick it up ![]() | Welcome ![]() If you're using the full dynamic geometry with Hexagon for hours of modelling, yes it does make sense that it puts your system down on its knees...While you have a serious amount of CPU power, but you do not talk about you video card. For the RAM used, then you should easily see if your machine swaps a lot when you are modeling ![]()

| Vertex ![]() | Yes, of course! Yes, it struck me (ow!) after I posted, that a good video card w/ gobs of memory would make a lot of difference. It pays to think about what it is your playing with i.e., a 3D program, vs 2D (PS). I'm afraid my old Bryce program laid dormant for a long time while I utilized PS almost exclusively. However, I am trying to employ more 3D in my work and of course actually drawing things would be nice too. I don't recall using the dynamic um...thing that was mentioned but I know it can be disabled and I don't think I did that so maybe it was a factor. I know it is a useful tool and I will eventually learn to use it. Thanks for your responses. I will now pull my head out. POP! |
