Stopping by to say hello

Not sure how many of you modellers I have crossed paths with since I deal mostly with Bryce and D/S, but it was suggested ;) that I pop in and greet everyone.

I have been using Bryce for 4 years, D/S for two, took a class on Cinema4D, had Blender on my computer at one time and a handful of other free modelling proggies that are all gone now.

I picked up Hexagon and I am determined to learn to use this. It looks more intuitive to me than C4D but maybe that's because C4D class gave me the background necessary to understand the principles of this type of modelling. I must stop and admit here that I love my Bryce and I find it hard to put it aside to learn new proggies. I recently got 70% off of Vue products and bought Vue6Infinite. Have only opened it once to make sure it works. Call me crazy, .

So that's where I'm at. I have Hexagon and V6I and I want to learn both. V6I is very much like Bryce and will be easier to learn. Hexagon is a different animal and I want to conquer it...tride the bull, so to speak, . I worked for 6 years as a CAD drafter, using Unix based CimLinc program. I thought it would help me learn but it is not the same either. This should be a callenge.

Long winded, sorry. Anyway, hello to everyone!

Hi Burpee. Welcome to PolyLoop.

I remember you (from Renderosity, that is, I left that place for good)...

I always liked your renders

Modeling is not such a difficult task, Secret is in 2 things: You have to have a good idea what you want to model and you have to focus on few most important tools which can do almost any job (as time goes buy and you become more "advanced" tools hungry you will master them as well, till then they are just a distraction).

For the starters check out some basics of subdivision modeling here.

I usually make my models in Silo, but basics are almost the same in all SDS modelers, so lot of people can help you to go through them. Post as many W.I.P.-s as you can and ask questions, check out tutorials and simply start modeling anything around you...practicing is the key. Good luck

Hi Wibble and thanks Gunman, appreciate the links. I'm taking a few days to redo my website then I have to start working with my modeller. I am hoping that I enjoy using it. I have some wicked ideas for models
