Blink [Carrara]Multiple displacement objects slowing C6 down

Hello, loopers.

I'm currently working on a scene with a lot of snowy spheres (see below, the complete image is larger with more spheres). The snow is made of a displacement map thats also working as an alpha map for the snow shader. I've set up the rows of spheres with a replicator.
Working quite fine.
Now I want the spheres to come in different colors. I thought I could just break up the replicator and create originals out of it, but when I do so, C6 starts to calculate the displacement for each sphere which takes ages. Every time. Over and over again. Show displacement in 3D view is disabled on each sphere.
So I wonder: Could I somehow avoid this recalculation (i could live with that just taking place before rendering)? Or would it be somehow possible to color the spheres in mixed colors inside of the replicator? What else could I do to realize this scene?

Thanks a lot! I know, the answer is out there… I just can't see it yet.

Best regards,
Tassilo

You can have multiple sphere source objects within the same Replicator. ;-)
Designers get to enjoy the holidays before everybody else, dont they! :D
