Now that Poser 5 is free and I have never used it before, a Poser forum might be nice.

No Poser 5 forums here, or only technical question, like creating content for Poser with the help of other software. I only mean that this is not a "content" forum ;)

Thomas,

I am not sure if there is a big enough user base for XSI, Maya, C4D or even Poser to require seperate sub forums. I do think a poser forum should be OK if enough of the forum members use Poser. I don't use Poser much but if some has a rendering question I don't think it would hurt to get answers from here. I admit I would hate to see post like in the Daz forums about new clothes for Vicki or Aiko.

Poser is -not- the subject of this forum. You know, I work for the editor of poser, e-frontier, then, why not? Simply because it's a forum about full 3D creation, not content assembly ;)
You can check the About section for more information

Poser may be about content assembly, but as an employee of e-frontier I'm sure you are aware that many poser artists work in conjunction with other apps. Most of the questions I read in forums relating to poser are about importing and exporting content. Would it not be reasonable then to have all those posts in a single dedicated forum?

A wings forum would be nice. I know there are plenty of users out there for it. A general modeling forum maybe seperate nurbs and SubD forums.

I tend to agree with Thomas there are plenty of poser sites to get your questions answered about it. Most of them have little of no service for other programs.

UV editors perhaps?

There are quite a few now, but this may not justify a forum for each one. A forum for all UV editors might be OK, if posters make it very clear which app they are talking about, as in putting the name of the UV app in the title of the post.

I prefer to have less forums than too much. The problem is to choose the good ones...
I don't want to change too much Polyloop, because it's currently running well.

but perhaps i'll do more general sections like rendering, lighting, modeling (NURBS? Poly, etc..) and subforum sections for the software... I still don't know..

Less is better, I agree. Content assemblers can go to Daz or Rocity and get questions answered in minutes and here they might get ignored or just plain appear like spam. I think the more sections you have, the worse it will be.

Just my .02 "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The thing i like most about Polyloop is the focus on Hexagon & Carrara. These are two good programs which lost their home. And really there is no other place to go (nowhere good, that is)... All other programs (Silo, ZBrush, Lightwave, C4D etc) have very large forums focused just on them alone. And if you add up ALL of the threads posted in Polyloop's individual 3D subforums, you would still have less than what is posted normally for one day of Hexagon/Carrara/Amapi... I don't think it's worth having all the seperate subforums. The general forum of "3D From Everywhere Else" is enough to encompass all of them without being overcrowded.

I think you are right about content assembly. More forums we have what is needed as far as programs. More general forums like modeling UV and Texturing would be nice. I like wings a lot but really not needed.

I agree with the good points made by Couerl and jonah. Polyloop is great the way it is. Less can really be more.
