| Boulet | DAZ deserves a chance to show us. Something must not have been going well at Eovia financially regarding the development of Carrara and Hexagon. I mean why else would Eovia sell these two great products if they were making them loads of cash. I know business is all about profit but it seems now that Eovia was not able to keep the development of these products going. DAZ deserves a chance especially of Eovia was having trouble handling the financial part of it all. DAZ may be great stewards of these products we all need to wait and see. DAZ may have saved Carrara and Hexagon from a worse future, who knows? I wish them luck in the name of Carrara and Hexagon. |

| NURBS Booleans are your friend ![]() | Yes, lets give them a chance, if we get a guaranty on our investment. If we spend money now buying and/or upgrading, and things are not good a year or two from now, "we get our money back". If they are willing to do that, then yes they mean business and will upkeep and keep improving Hexagon and Carrara in good faith. But, if we give them a chance without a guaranty, we are going to lose time and money.

| Vertex ![]() | All the griping and whining that I see here seems like the end of Planet of the Apes (Well at least the original, I never did make it out to see the remake), wherein Charlton Heston is kneeling on the beach, screaming at no one in particular (except a defiance at what was the human race) that they had gone and blown it all up. I agree with some of the level headed people here, if Carrara or Hexagon goes on to be "un-useful" to me, I will be using my hard earned $$ on other products, as much as it pains me to find another alternative from those two products. I thought Eovia did good by going forward with Carrara after MetaCreations scattered their 3D apps to the four winds. I was kind of shaken after that because I recently had gotten Carrara and like a week later they had dissolved the company. I hope to see the same care going forward.

| Extrusion ![]() | Well if we should give them a chance then I say it's already going sour because NOT ONE person from DAZ has had the >courage< to even come over here and say A SINGLE THING. All we've heard was leaks from Renderosity and Poser forums and the DAZ elite fora (gotta pay to get into those conversations) Unless I'm mistaken, these forums here were the main gateways to Eovia's wares - Hex and Carrara, and again, not a single visit the whole day of this "major announcement" from the new owners... I know the heat is hott over here but still, be brave and go boldy forth - say hello to your new and unknown to you customers - that's my opinion. -Will

| Cube ![]() | My apologies. I can't watch all the threads that are springing up and had tried to create a single point for information on this forum (the thread titled 'Questions and answers on the DAZ acquisition', also on this forum). I am now a part of DAZ am happy to answer questions as time allows. There is much to do, and a key part of that is communicating with our users. I'm now watching this thread, too, and will comment as I can. Regards, Bob

| Extrusion ![]() | Okay sorry Bob, perhaps I stand corrected - when I see "Eovia" in front of your name, that made me think that you're from the "Eovia Team" detailing what's going on with this merger - if you're actually from DAZ then I stand corrected... Again, I don't have any negative feeling for DAZ because I'm not all that familiar with it. My major concerns through all of this was the Hex 2 release, our preorders and why all the "glory" Hex 2 had going for it had to be derailed with this company merger? Take that as a rhetorical question since all of this cannot be changed. I'm not even saying it should be changed or this shouldn't have happened BUT I've never seen a major >industry shaking< product release get coupled with a major (customer shaking) company take over?? This has certainly taken all the deserved focus from Hex 2 and its innovative features to merger. People are turned off to the point of not even wanting to buy the software any longer - that's never a good thing... Not to say that this should have been "hidden" until after Hex 2's release and everyone bought it but I can't help but feel that if all this took place after the release and it was announced in a way that was more palatable and not so threating to everyone who has their money on the table, it may not have came across so bad - "Eovia and DAZ are forming a strategic merger to better server the 3D community through..." for example and presenting your visions for the future as your two teams work together... All of this to me felt like SLAP! - "haha, we bought Eovia - oh yeah, we'll still give you Hex 2 - you just can't buy it anymore right now..." Purchasing links were disappeared, good upgrade deals gone - not a good look in not just mines, but a lot of folks eyes... Anyway, back to my original post - If you're from DAZ and not from the "Eovia side" of this, then I stand corrected. -Will

| Cube ![]() | I may have made the wrong impression with that statement. I am now from the DAZ side, having come over from the Eovia side with this acquisition. I am now part of the management team at DAZ.

| Extrusion ![]() | Okay, which is what I initially thought. My post in this thread was from reading other people here saying that people at Renderosity, Poser forums et al, were getting this information first from DAZ direct (as in that private DAZ forum) while we here, the Eovia customers proper, were last to get an official DAZ presence. If you were the person at the other forums giving out that info then again, I stand corrected. Well anyway, success with this merger Bob, hopefully you guys have a future in mind for this software that matches, or even better, exceeds the hopes and dreams we, your customers had for it - because the future for it in our eyes was very bright and of professional quality, hopefully none of that will change. -Will
