Problem opening Zips attached to forum posts

I think this may be a problem only I am having, since I haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere.

Every zip file I've tried to open from these forums is giving me an error:

"bad Zip file offset (Error local header signature not found) 0."

Anyone know what my malfunction might be? It just seems to affect zips from here, whether I save them locally or try to open them directly, not other websites or sources.

Your not the only one. I bet you are using Internet Explorer! It has been a regular problem which seems to be a site specific/ Internet Explorer problem though some problem with agreement to that. You need to import via Mossilla Firefox or similar to download. Please report it as a bug.

I'm sorry to repeat this answer, but the downloads has been tested on several browsers (include IE), on both PC and Mac, without errors.
Anyway :
-Clean your brower cache
-try with another decomrpessor (like Winrar)
-try with another browser, like Opera of Firefox

Aha, something is adding a few extra bytes to the zip files that don't belong when I download them.

Well, I'm not going to stress about it. Hardly worth installing another browser for that. I'll just avoid the zips.

I am using IE6 and Stuffit Expander. Although Stuffit does give an error message, it does finish unzipping a useable file.

Oh? I might be willing to try that. Is it the new expander that hates all the old sit formats or one of the old versions?

I'm using Stuffit v9, but I believe you can open zip files in earlier versions.

Thomas I am told that .exe files are virtually uncoruptable and less in need of secondary programmes to make accessable. This from one of our government programmers. But I guess all is not straight forward--as usual!

Forgot to mention. Most of the DAZ stuff comes as .exe--no zip files involved.

.exe is a PC specific format, not Mac. And most of browser don't accept exe downloads because of virus.
And an exe can be corrupted as any file format...

Please, can you check again the attachement and see if you still have the problems?
Thanks!

Not to mention, most servers won't allow .exe files to be uploaded because they can wreak havoc on them. :\
