Most of the time when I have to transit a .exe file, you just zip it up and send it off. This can get by numerous email servers and other things without getting blocked because it is not natively an executiable file. (although, there are zips that act have an installer, so those can run code.)

Andrew, Daz doe's not put the .exe files into a zip. They are a direct download.

Right, but their servers are internal and loading an exe. file locally is no big deal. Daz does not allow users to post exe files to thier servers because someone could write a nice little script that could own them. ;)

Allowing a user of a forum to upload exe files is certain suicide, unless you enjoy deploying servers alot like I do.

Though the earlier problems seem to be solved, my idea or theory was that Eovia change all uploaded files ( whatever format) into .exe or .sit for downloading access to us. I presumed Daz must find some beneifit in thier approach. I find other sites seem to be doing the same. All very curious.

Hmm, well... Carrara and Hexagon downloads do come with premade installers or exe files. Daz is a bit different in that if you are downloading content, a vicki 3 for instance or a dress for the little trollop, it may exe into a directory for you. Thats all good and fine, but I can't see a user forum like this (Not officially Eovia btw, but Thomas's own personal website, who happens to be officially connected to Eovia) I don't know that making an exe. file for a shader or a model for instance has any value since you can open them straight up anyway. So I guess I'm sorry I don't fully understand what it is exactly that you want?

What kind of file would you rather see as an exe one?
Steven

We are running around in circles I think. It all was in relation to finding solutions to problems with downloading from this site which seem to have been resolved. Surprised that you say this is Thomas's personal site though good on him if it is. (The Eovia home site gives a different impression)

Bwtr: This website isn't direct linking on Eovia.com navigation bar, but listed in the community forum section.
But I'm on the top of the list because my desk is at a distance or 2 meters of the Eovia Webmaster ;)

You indicate that your desk is 2meters higher than the Eovia Webmaster! (I am obviously misinterpreting what you meant---but you can imagine the image I visualised!) p.s. how many hours a day do you sleep?
