Hi!

I open again the donation for Polyloop.net. Like 9 months ago, I'll need your help for paying the hosting costs, the forum, the gallery, etc. As you can imagine, such a website costs a lot and I use more and more the second server (the Polyloop.com one). In fact, all the website is hosted on two different servers.

It's not an obligation at all to donate, it's for those of you who want to help. Also, I prefer a small donation, but on a regular basis, than a higher donation, but only once.

I use Paypal for that, then, you can use your Paypal account or a simple credit card.

I love Polyloop so I want to donate to, but “Make a Donation” button lead me to Paypal page written in French. I am sorry but I do not understand French well.

Can I find English Paypal page of donation for Polyloop?

That's weird, I was sure to configure it for an english display, I'll check it.

Hi, I tried to fixed it, it should be ok now. In fact, Paypal display the page in the browser language, then, you should have it in japanese.

As many members as you have and how popular this site is, I am sure you could get sponcers for your site. Have you checked into getting some Thomas? That would realy help with hosting and may even turn a profit for you.

Think that WE: users and Thomas do not want to get sponspored .
Because sponsors could represent a permanent pressure (even friendly)..

It's very important to feel free. This forum belongs to Thomas as a private person, that's true but we can affirmate also that this forum is OURS and YOURS, If we donate, this forum will stay free of pressure of any kind.
(Even if we try to be and to stay "smart" )

Advertising is an other thing, and advertising is bound by limits in time..It's better.

This is just my personnal thoughts

Piem did a good summary. By sponsors, it means having banners, and all kind of stuff, and also, handeling with some kinds of pressures. I prefer having this kind of system, by asking members to help. The website costs, but donations are enough in addition to my personnal money.

I prefer having sponsors for contests and having prizes for you ;)

And I don't want to do profit with this forum, it's more a place for everybody, even if it's -my- forum, it's also -your- forum, as Piem said

For your information, the next time I'll hav to spend the Polyloop money is to buy a backup system. I currently do manual backup, but I want an automatic and external one. It will be too horrible to have a major server crash (like both hard drived crashed) and losing almost everything...

Donation sent. I really REALLY enjoy Polyloop. I used to hang out a lot on the CGTalk site...but it seems to dislike being "kept in the dark" about what my browser is and who I am. I log in, but because of security (cookies, script blocking, no Flash, etc.) it likes to log me out every now and then. Not sure exactly why. *shrug*

Polyloop is a nice, 'homey' feeling place.

Very warm and comfortable.

For the cookies, if you don't allows them, then, at CGTalk or here, you will always be log out (like most forums), because it use cookies for the authentification.
