Announcing Polyloop.net - All 3DXtract issues to download!!!

(Message en français ici)

As you know, recently, DAZ acquired Eovia Corp including Carrara and Hexagon. As you may know, I'm no longer an employee of Eovia and don't know if the "Eovia" name will exist in the future or not.

So I have decided to change the name of my website/forum, to Polyloop.net soon. Then, what is Polyloop? Simply the name of a new place to learn 3D, share your knowledge, search for help, exposing your creations and as you can imagine, more than that, a place for a 3D community!

This name change will happen in the next couple of week. You will see it by a new forum skin and some changes in the forum. Don't be afraid, not too much changes, but some of them are needed, like:

  • Removing the gallery. A lot of users don't visit the gallery, or not a lot are posting comments. Then, a new forum section, a "Finished works" section will be added.
  • A "Best of" forum section will be added, including the best creation posted here.
  • A new forum dedicated to other 3D software will be added, with some subforums for specifics forums like Modo, Silo, etc. You can take a look at the french "2D & 3D chez les autres" forums of the french section
  • A challenge forum. Yes, such a forum already exist, but not so visible, with not enough activity.
  • A 2D drawing system to draw online. It will be a test, to see if you like it, but IMHO, drawing is a very good addition to 3D! I hope you will like it!
  • Perhaps a kind of personal page on your profile, where you will be able to post what you want (well, it's not a blog )
  • An animation section
  • A hardware section (too much hardware questions recently)
  • Removing the requested features and bugs, now, I'm like you, I don't have any more privileged relationships with developers
  • And more ;)
If you have any suggestions about improving this forum, then, feel free to post them here!

And as a good new doesn't come alone (I don't know if it means the same in english than in french), Carl Desmond now is offering all the past 3DXtract issues ! Tons and tons of tutorials, tricks, reviews about Carrara, Hexagon and Amapi !!

I'll let you read his message and then, download these issues! A big thanks to him!!!

Warning I like it

Sounds good so far. Yep, gallery is just waste of space, many ppl just post there and never visit this site again or post anything in forums, looks like similar structure like on CG Talk forums is needed (as you suggested, Thomas).

Is "the best of" gonna be in gallery format (used before) or are you going to use something like Coppermine ?

P.S.

AuntyBetty should be definetly in charge of challenges, he is a a very nice guy and very active around here.

Glad this is going to continue..I was worried all this good information may just dissapear. O_O

I have logged onto the Daz forum but only visited once since. I like this one as it seems more friendly and focused. I intend to keep supporting it.

We'd say "Good news comes in threes" (une bonne nouvelle vient avec deux autres?). I can see many more than three good things in that list

Love the new name, very clever.

I'm disappointed that the gallery will be remove, but I'm looking foward to the "Animation" section and the "Best Of" section.

For the website, Are you going to change the whole layout or structure or just chance the color to yellow?

BTW,The color of the sun is a nice touch. and great Logo.

as a tester, I can say you that just the colors are changing ;) It's always a vBulletin forum.

Anyway, Thanks to Carl for the 3dxtracts, and congratulation for all the work you do for us, Thomas

Thanks Thomas,

I'm so glad to hear this site will remain intact! I was worried there for a bit. You've really helped me learn a lot this past year.

And a special thanks to Carl for all his hard work on 3DXtract - another great resource that's helped me immensely. Offering all the issues to the community is very, very cool.

Thanks again, looking forward to Polyloop.net!!

I always liked this forum and learned more here about Hexagon than anyplace else and that's because of Thomas' efforts and a long list of others. I look forward to a clean slate, one less politics and defending Hexagon and the devs and more toward learning and getting better. I'll be in on the challenges here and learning and helping out where I can too, you can count on that.

Oh and Carl, it's nice of you to give the ezines away, but I'm dissapointed that 3dextract will not see another issue. I think it was the best thing you had going and a valuable resource. Not to mention a fun read fridays at work.
