Theres a new CG challenge over CG Talk
The last one -Strange Behavior- film category was very poor in the final entrys thats why (I think) this time if you finish it you get a XSI licence

Nice to be sure, I just wish it was not so specific. I'm sure you could wing some sort of symbiotic relatioship with an alien and human but I think it's also graded on the books context.

You're right though, all you have to do is finish to get XSI out of it.

From the faq:

Q: It's based on a book... do I have to read the book?

A: Nope. You don't need to do anything book-related, it's just there to help set the theme of what we're talking about. As long as you're depicting alien-human interaction, you're set!

I noticed that is an academic XSI license. Does anyone know what the cripples/restrictions there are for an academic XSI license?

None other than commercial use is prohibited.

Thank you Sadot i entered the challenge only for that !

Now i need to see what it's all about !

And yes it's only a non-commercial version but it does exactly the same things as the commercial one (even the exact same files so you can transfer them to/from a commercial licence...

) except that you're not allowed to do business with it.

But hey you're not restricted on the fun you can have with using it !
