I think you are comparing apples and oranges here.

Kerkythea is mostly a render engine (and a damn good one form what i can see of it, even if i've never been able to use it actually...) while Carrara is a full featured 3D package.

Carrara's render engine doesn't have all the fancy stuff Kerkythea has but has other things available to do "artistic" renders.

I think that Carrara's terrain editor is a really good one combined with the Tree Lab.
If you're into landscape rendering and have no money or time to invest in software like Vue6 or Terragen, then Carrara5Pro for free is a great deal.

And Thomas, i feel for you about Georgette !

Wish they'd fixed the bugs in version 5 before going to 6, but... hey, I'm happy paying 10 pounds for an upgrade from Std to Pro :P

Did anyone install the free C5 pro (3D world #100) successfully with the serial no. generated from DAZ3D?

When I fill in the blanks and press "next" , it says "Serial Number is incorrect". Why?
I sent a support form. There are no reply yet.

Any ideas?

My mistake!
I type 'c5free' instead of 'c5pfree' and got a free serial no. of C5 standard!

Thank you for your attention.

Oh by the way Daz is giving a 50% off coupon for platinum members. With this you can use your Carrara 5 pro serial and upgrade to 6 pro for 50% off.

Thank you for sharing your review of Carrara 5, I had no idea it had some of the capabilities mentioned. The 50% off coupon is also attractive, so I will have to see how much money in the grocery budget when the magazine get's here.

RENDERNODE??

Hey all, what is RENDERNODE? Is it a separate app for network rendering? Thanks.

Hello sampolyloop,

Did you get a c5pfree version of the serial number? AND, did it install? I petitioned for the correct software as the html doc on disk advised, received the serial number but the installer will not accept it. Neither support@eovia.com or support@daz3d.com are valid addresses.

Where might i go to inquire about this problem?

Thanks,
Alan

Hi, it seems that the support has changed for a more efficient system available for the customers.

Remember, if you ever need to refer back to this serial number in the future it can be located in the "Available Serial Codes" section of your account.

Hi Piem,

Yes it was efficient, just not sufficient. Did find a usable link to their support team though.

AlanHN - it is possible you have a carrara standard number rather than the pro number (it appears to have happened to several people) go to your account/available serial numbers page on the daz site and check it says a number for "carrara 5 pro" (not just "carrara 5"). If you don't have a pro number just retype in the address form the mag (while logged into your daz account) and you should get a new numbers.

I think this was caused by their site not redirecting new members to the correct page for pro - after taking them to create an account, but working ok if you alread had an account... ?

good luck.

Upon checking I do have the pro version serial number, BUT it does say it is for the "download version" of C5Pro. With good servers and broadband, that is not usually a problem anymore, supplying the full program that is via download that is. Must be another problem.

Thanks,

Registering with a new personality and email address produced a new carrara 5 pro license with a different format surprisingly. Still remarked as a download version, serial # was short a hyphen and worked perfectly.

Thanks,
