Mudbox contest

http://area.autodesk.com/index.php/contest/mudbox/

There is a mudbox contest on here at Autodesk, whats even better is that they give you a two month special trial of mudbox and some free meshes to start. You need to register for the contest to get the trial software and meshes

Its a good software

Really ? What's your OS / CPU / Graphic cards ?
Work fine here, even on my old laptop with only 32 mb of video ram.

I use Mudbox all the time. It's a very stable program.

But a very stable and unfinished program.

1. No copy and paste.

2. Mirror and Flip functions only work on the X axis. The Y and Z options are present, but they just flip on the X axis.

3. Can't move, rotate or scale multiple objects together.

I'm hoping they'll finish it for V2.0!

Although I'm sure when V2.0 arrives, I'll be posting about how the paint functions are lacking certain features and hoping that they finish it for V3.0.

Mirror work on X, Y, Z, and any axis based on the topology, just specify 2 poly side by side and you create a brand new axis.
Yes move/rotate/scale kinda sucks, about copy and paste i don't see what i need to paste so it doesn't matter for me.
Just like you (and every body who bought it) i really hope to see a v2 as soon as possible (or a 1.x) to get ride of the shitty bugs.
But look like it's not for tomorrow, since Autodesk bought it, the new license suck monkey dick, and the communication doesn't seem to be a priority.

Sadly, it doesn't perform well on my system but I loaded the models into ZBrush 3 and gave them a try anyway. I wish I could enter the contest but that won't happen until I get a new PC or better video card (I'd just buy a new PC though, mine sucks). If I can get the new computer before the month is over, I'll probably enter the contest. Thanks for posting about it!

In this contest you are not allowed to use another modelling program, but only the primitives inside MB. Making multiple bits out of primitives I have sorely missed copy and paste. While its not a programme designed to be used alone, having some basic mesh manipulation tools and copy paste in MB2 would speed up the workflow so you dont constantly need to be dropping out to other programmes

Yep, I already knew about setting the topology. Like I said, I used Mudbox all the time. But the functions are clearly unfinished.

The mirror and flip functions should work on the Y and Z axis without having to set the topology on a simple Mudbox created sphere. After all, flipping on X axis works just fine. But regardless, even after you set the topology they still don't work properly.

(for me)
