After 35 minutes in Modo 103 I am now an expert and eagerly awaiting the version that actually does stuff.

Why so long?! My time was just 34 minutes ... Nah, that's not really true. I've had Modo for about 6 months but never spent much time with it. Now i have been studying the render engine for the last week, and it's damn nice. Always amazed that i have so much more to learn...

I was looking to study that, but I guess in 103.... erm... No renderer..

Oh well, I can navigate okay and I know how to push all the buttons now and import models and stuff.

I'll wait a day and get the update and then I'll wait for 301 to come out I guess and see what happens, I demo'd 201 and it looked ok, but I didn't spend more than 5 or 6 hours in it.

Please laugh at me.

I purchased modo202 at regular price ($895.00) before six months.
Since then, I had to give up most stuff which I wanted to buy.

Am I a variation of crazy wabbit?

shoeach: well, all that kind of stuff happen, and not only in software, but also for computers, when Intel announce a drop of $250 of a CPU that you bought at the full price a couple of days ago But, well, it's not always pleased when it happens...

For those of you who want to progress very fast with modo, if you have one tutorial to buy, pick the sport shoe one! modeling, UVs, shaders, lighting and renders explain to create a very nice model!

Thomas, thanks for your comment.

I have purchased all tutorials by Andrew Brown including sports shoe tutorial and I’m now learning modo eagerly.

Of course, I don’t regret my judgment that I purchased modo by “regular price”.
I think that there is enough quality that corresponds to value of the price ($895) in modo.

I hate that, never look back after any electronics/computer purchase, you end up kicking your own ass in hindsight

What is more irritating than preordering Hex 2 for $199 only to find later that it is offered for $1.99 to anyone who doesn't even own any Eovia products.

Or just wait for Grendel's newly revised Camera tut for Modo 301.

Oh, P.S. I got 103 yesterday, and now for the 295.00 deal I think I had to wait 24 hours, does that mean I get pre-order to 301 from Luxology today? Or do I wait till Monday do you suppose?

Couerl: it tooks me around 12hours to see the promotion at 295 on the website. It was the afternoon for me, then, the early morning for you (I think the website updates each 24hours the accounts)

I think that Thomas or Hugo will need to change the Modo section to the root, like Carrara an Hexagon, well many members are moving on with Modo

No, sorry! the root will become if all the moderators are ok with that (we have to discuss about all that stuff), to :
  • News
  • WIP & finished work
  • Sandbox
  • Modeling (poly, sculpting)
  • Modeling NURBS
  • Materials and UVs
  • Rendering
  • 2D technics
  • Tutorials
  • Misc (a real misc related to 3D..)
With still the gallery, chat, etc..

Now that Polyloop is more open to various software, the sections must become more generic, that's why we won't open a specific modo section.

I will open a dedicated thread later about that.
