The trick is that it's a new and expensive version level. (very expensive even from cs2)
Will it be mpossible to avoid ..?

The upgrade from CS2 to CS3 extended isn't that much for what it does.
Upgrade is $349.00

For most high-end 3D packages some upgrade prices are $495.00
$349 is a price for a plugin in most applications. :-)

ah?
I saw much more from the web bundle (6 or 700 if I remember) (in fact I haven't seen yet the web-bundle upgrade.but just the Creative premium suite one)
I do not want to upgrade only Toshop at that price.

Photoshop CS3 extended from CS2 is around 700 euro !
349 euros is only for an upgrade to CS3 "Classic"

I'll wait
(700 € is about 1000 US $)

And, obviously the 3d feature is interesting for (poor) people like us. ^^
bad luck.

It's a one-way thing for 3D anyway I think.. I was thinking originally it might be: Import .obj, paint, export and render in C5/6 or whatever, but nope.
Just import and paint and save as .jpeg or whatever with some daz Studio type preset lighting etc.. Bleh...

the only 3d files CS3 will export is a part of the "Enhanced Vanishing Point"..
you can only export 2D plane's as a 3d object in 3DS or DXF format. Mostly just for Match Moving

With say the Daz import/exercise as I read it. You import the Daz3D object into P/Shop and paint on it in 3d. You save that "painting" as a 3D PDF file ,which Daz can import, to apply to that 3D item in Daz.

To me that's a 3D painting programme.

Whats a 3D PDF???

CS3 Extended can save a 3D PSD file, if thats what you mean.

So when was Daz studio able to open a 3D PSD file? If Carrara 6 is able to open a 3D PSD then it will truly be a phenomenal upgrade.

again the only true 3D files that PS can export are 3ds and DXF files of the vanishing point, which it VERY useful in it's own right, but it's not exporting OBJ files with painted UV's.

I very curious where you read this. I would LOVE to be wrong about this

Brian,
Is this what you were reading?
http://www.adobe.com/products/plugins/photoshop/

Quote:
Daz 3D Studio makes a easy to use the 3D viewer and change a 3D model's position and lighting. You can also import and export 3D-enabled PSD files from Daz 3D Studio.
was this written by a monkey?

"a easy to use the 3D viewer and change a 3D model's position"... What the hell does that mean???

"You can also import and export 3D-enabled PSD files from Daz 3D Studio."
translation:
you can export a OBJ file from Daz Studio.
import that file into PS
then export a 3D-enabled PSD file.
it can't go back into anything but CS3
it sucks, but that it for now.

3D PDFs have been available with Acrobat in the last version. Version 8 is about to come out. The free reader for Version 8 is now available.

Daz will be anouncing the "plugin" at the big US 3D conference in a few days as I read it and the update to DazStudio should then follow.(Daz are part of the Photoshop Plugins Stand!)

Interesting they list Lightwave and Daz Studio and Eovia's Carrara Basics and C5. Poorly worded and out of date to be sure, but its still pretty nice exposure to a large audience, despite it being written by Chimp chimp.

I'm not quite sue what happened to your link but if you are referring to this article check out page 2 of the article.

http://creativemac.digitalmedianet.c...sp?id=118679-1

Quote:
1. Can I create my own 3D objects directly in Photoshop? The answer is: kind of. You can use Vanishing Point in Photoshop to create multi-planed objects, essentially extruding a 2D file manually, then export that extrusion to a supported 3D file format (DXF or 3DS) or use it to create a new 3D layer directly within Photoshop. Both options are available through the Vanishing Point window via the little flyaway menu next to the tools palette.
This is currently the equivalent to the function of a PDF

Quote:
2. Can I export 3D content to After Effects? Yes and no. Using Vanishing Point, you can export your extrusions to a new After Effects CS3 format that treats the Vanishing Point planes as pre-defined After Effects 3D layers. (More on this when we get our grubby hands on the AECS3 beta. At this point, I have only seen this feature demonstrated and have not used it myself.) At present, I have not found a way to export 3D objects (OBJ, 3DS, etc.) to After Effects CS3.
I think that's what we were looking for

That article is from a beta tester I think it reads.
I. No one as far as I know has suggested that PS3 will make 3D files.
2.My concern is about painting on a 3D object and having that painting applied to the 3D object back in your 3D programme. (Either retuning with the original 3D object or as a "painting" file for it)

The answer to both being yes.(If you read the full splurge of Adobes on all the products which make up a CS3 suite you will be quite amazed at the full extent of the interactions)

Deliveries are only a week or so away and all will be answered anyway.

Read the last post of mine.
