LOL. Yes I have both, the price was quite right. The topology brush is was the feature that got me. Silo compliments Hex well. From the look of thing the displacement runs about the same. We'll have to wait and see...

Haven't looked at Silo for a while, but was impressed with the vid showing some of the stuff they are doing. Wondering (haven't looked yet) if 2 will have (like Hex) auto symmetry, so you don't have to mirror parts...? Haven't given up on Hex, but the last thing I expected was for it to end up where it is now.... not overly optimistic about its future. At least there is Silo as an alternative to Hexagon. Since I bought Silo 1.4 long ago, before Hex 2, I will be able to get Silo 2 for free. What's scary is that as far as I know, there is no comparable competition in the same category (price, function) for Carrara. It's enough to make you cry to see the path these great programs have fallen into... | |

Silo is close but unless they implement those Nurbs- hybrid poly tools... Ill probably use Hexagon more. The shear speed of one or 2 clicks seems irrelevant when in Hex you have a couple more ways to skin an apple.

I started with Silo when I began to learn modelling. Moved to Hex when it came out. Used both for a while but when Hex got symmetry stopped using Silo. I like Hex a lot but those NC guys are good too. I'll be upgrading to Silo 2 when it is released, that way I'll have the best of both worlds ![]() Nate, Silo 2 does have symmetry as shown in the movie on this thread: http://www.silo3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5467

I'm in the process of downloading/watching all those Silo video updates now. The more I see, the more I like... Haven't played with my Silo 1.4 for a long time, just dusted it off for a refresher. Want to review the basics like sweep line, line tools, etc... sometimes the trees get overlooked in the forest of the whiz stuff. What are "those Nurbs-hybrid poly tools," geqfreq? If Silo sells to D*z, the company needs to go to the psycho ward for rehab. |

And also Silo does not have geometry deformers.

Nate Owens, I don't think anyone expected Carrara and Hexagon to be sold to Daz. They are both very good programs but I am not sure if Daz is going to develope Hexagon 3. I wish Daz could just say Hexagon is dead or Hexagon is being developed at a much faster rate than with Eovia. Under Eovia's control I think Hexagon 3 could have been the best modeling program second to none. |

From what I have heard. They are building a team and getting set to work on a patch to Hex 2. Then I'm sure they'd move on to Hex 3. If you are afraid. It never hurts to contact them directly. Email bob@daz3d.com I'm sure he'd be more than happy to ease any concerns you may have. I do know that active development is happening. I receive updates on bugs I have submitted for Hex 2, and just got one yesterday. It stated that it was confirmed and they changed its status to immediate. I have debated myself on purchasing Silo for immediate access to a capable modeler with displacement capabilities that works in the here and now. I do expect Hex to turn itself around.

Good to know Nichod. have some faith in your opinion. Might be actually a blessing for Hex when Silo 2 Beta comes out they can assess what to shoot for, in terms of displacement for 3. Will wait patiently til then - I do have Silo now... still I find myself in Hex.
