| One mac issue partially soilved!
One of the biggest problems I've had with the Mac version of Hex is the mesh disappearing when I have polys selected and I undo something. Well, I've (sort of) found a fix. Disable Local Redraw in your preferences. This won't prevent the problem from happening 100% of the time, however it does keep Hex from requiring a restart about 90% of the time. When the problem happens, you should drop your SubD level to 0, then click anywhere in the window to deselect the polys - the model will then jump to the 0 SubD level. You can then bump the SubD level up again and keep working. I've still experienced problems where all my edges disappeared, but this fixed about 90% of the problems I was having - which means I could actually use Hex on my Mac for production work! Paul |

Yes, that works on 'lesser' graphic cards also -- not just on Mac. I am getting quite good results (no visible problems) on an ordinary Intel Centrino notebook, which has only the integrated Intel 'graphics card'. I also raised the OpenGL memory to High (64MB I think). Turning off Local Redraw, Fast Transparency, Two-Sides Lighting, and Anti-aliasing in the Hex 2 3d:Advanced Preferences was the rest to solve problems. I get the 'doesn't meet OpenGL 1.4' message, but it doesn't mean problems - I think they should give a preference to turn that off. Incidentally, I also tried upgrading to the latest Intel graphics driver, which has many supposed 'fixes' at least for games, and says it is OpenGL 2.0. Well, I still got the not-1.4 message, and also then I did have some graphics problems. So I went back to the original driver which was tuned for this laptop. Kind regards... |
