Can the alt key be remapped?

I use XSI and in XSI instead of the ALT key to move around an object, you use the S key. I really like this workflow and I'd like to remap Hex's ALT key to the S key.

Is there any way to do this? I have pretty much everything else in Hex mapped to the XSI equivalent.

Thanks

Paul

Paulrus, this is also an issue I have... Maya has a similar keyboard/mouse combo to XSI, and I frequently switch between using Maya/Silo/Hex2. If I was able to change the mouse/keyboard combo, it would greatly benifit my workflow (and insanity!). I looked through all of the configuration files for Hex2, and unfortunately as everyone has previously stated there is no way to change mouse inputs in Hex2 currently. Let's hope the developers have listened and made this an option in the upcoming release!

err .. Can't you change the Maya's or xsi's hotkeys ? I understand your point of vue but " alt" is such easy ,such commun..and very near from your finger which got to be near from the ctrl key
Which app will you use the most for modeling?

I use XSI for modeling mainly and I bought Hex for modeling on my Mac and for 3D painting/displacement work. I find XSI's keyboard shortcuts to be the most efficient set out of any on the market.

It makes you hardware dependent but if you buy something like the Nostromo n52 or similar, you can map the keys (and create macros) to your heart's content and normalize the use of all your apps with this device.

But as I said, similar to using a mouse wheel and then sitting at a machine without one, you'll become seriously dependent on your custom key mappings...
(Not a bad thing but something to think about if you move between machines a lot.)
