Texture Painting

Quick question, I tried to ask it in the toon chicken thread but I'll ask here to get an answer. I haven't bought Hex 2 yet so please, help me out.

Is the texture painting tool they show in the vids actual able to create 'new' textures? Such as, can I take an untextured model and texture it by painting new colors on it. Or is it just a 'reveal' textures that currently exist type of tool? Any one follow Luxology's Modo 201 vids? They have true painting on the model. Is this similar in Hex 2?

Thanks!
Azeiku

Hi Azeiku
Well ..both..for now you can make a new map and do the map in hxn2..absolutely

now..for the "images" texture ..it is for the present version 2.0 a reveal texture . but using colors + alphas (dots or free hand) works pretty well
I've seen modo201 video..no open gl micro displacement modeling (should it seems ??) but some very nice painting and rendering features indeed.

One key point to mention is that you do have to UV Unwrap your model before you paint on them. This will affect some painting characteristics too depending on how you lay-out your UV maps.

Yes the cleaner your map the cleaner your texture.
