Should I buy Hexagon 2?

Hiya!

I learned about Hexagon 2 from the 3D Game Studio forum. I'm looking for a 3D modeler I can learn how to use and keep for a long time to come. Hexagon 2 caught my eye for how simple it seems to model with (based off of the videos on the Eovia website) and the texture tool; plus, I can get it for a good price through DAZ.

Looking through the forum, though, I have seen some troubling things. First, there seems to be a lot of posts regarding program instability. Second, there are posters who are worried about the future of the program's development under DAZ.

Do you think I should buy Hexagon 2, despite these worries? I will be primarily using it for game development, although I would like to learn well enough to produce some artwork in my freetime.

Would there be any issues with my graphics card? I use a GeForce 6600GT.

Thanks in advance for any help!

PS: Also, if I were to get a tablet PC, with the appropriate graphics hardware, would Hex 2 be compatible; ie, would I be able to use the pen to draw on the 3d model directly?

PPS: One last thing - is the program dual core compatible? Thanks again!

Dude, you came into HEX at the wrong time!

HEX just came out Friday and we're all going through growing pains! HEX 1.2 is rock solid!!

Tablet= yes, you will be able to brush on texture and deform surfaces.
Graphics= make sure you read the requirements for HEX2. There at the eovia.com site.

HEX is a great app. (v1.2 that is). Easy to work with and offers a lot nice tools found in higher end apps. Try the demo of v1.2 (demo of v2.0 is not out yet). ....IMHO

I would say that for the price, you shouldn't pass on getting Hex 2. For less than $40 I got Hex2. Right now, if you join Platinum Club ($30) you get Hex for $1.99.

Yes, there are some bugs. I get this info from reading the threads here, because the admittedly little I have done so far with the program has gone as I would have expected. But since I am a new Hex user, take that with a grain of salt. I haven't been able to push Hex into showing me it's bugs yet. Maybe by the time I get far enough for Hex to show me it's bugs, DAZ will have released the fixes.

Don't pass on this deal.

The GeForce card keeps coming up in the complaints I have read, so I would suggest you make sure you have the latest drivers and make sure you have your Vsync set correctly. The threads describe how to do this.

For the price of 32 $ (1,99 + 29,95) all I can say is YES.

Is true that 2.0 has a lot of bugs, but thinking in future 2.x releases (free of bugs) it deserve for its price.

That's my advice.

Read this thread I beleive you guys have the same video card. You can overcome the bugs. While you are learning the app, you may not run into some of the ones mentioned.

BTW, I sat on a $15 gift certificate that I had no idea what to do with until now. So I got my Hex 2 for $16.94

Sorry, I had to share that piece of info...

Actually, I think he has a 6800gt and yours is 6600gt. Might be the same fix.

Hex 2 is G R E A T!
Don't pass on this deal. Unless you have money to give away.

I'm new to Hex too, and haven't seen any Bug so far. ( Well, i had to updated my GFX-Card drivers! GForce FX5900XT 128MB )

But as Naes3d said, maybe we newbies haven't done the "Big things" to decoy them?

For ME it seem as if there are severel people having problems, but much more people having BIG FUN with this great Program. ? !

@Naes3D: Hehe, i was already a PC-Member. The Monthly 7,95 + 1,99 = 9,94 for Hex 2.

Hey, certainly ( thanks to DAZ ) there are much more people using/trying HEX now, than ever before.
So Hex's future looks darned well. ( Sure! MY Opinion! Only Time will tell!)

Well, too much constant complainer demonise DAZ3D.
But .... who has sold Hex?

I personaly I'm fine with Hex 1.2. However I so anxious on getting, but with all the bugs that's flodding around the program, I guest I would have to wait. Hey but don't get me wrong , IT'S a great program with all the capabilities it has.
My suggestion is if you have the Hex 1 stay with that for now, until some of the bugs are resolved, but if not go for it.

How much was the price for the 1 version? + 99$ of the "PRE-ORDER USER"=

and now some guys talking about 16 or 19 or 40$

Any compensation for the first "ingenous" user?

Make sense?

Maybe yes and maybe no. Ever work with Amapi Disigner 7? ;) It never became remotely bug free and daz' software develpment history suggests nothing better. But, cheap as Hex is it's probably worth buying even if it's not improved upon much after this.
