How to hide wire on selected object ?

When i select my object to paint on i saw the wireframe+shaded mode .
I'ts so unpleasant and unpractical ! i want to paint colors and texture and i 've this ugly grey lines wich represent my edges . I don't wan't to see this when i work on textures or displacement !

Go to pref/display/selection and un_ check "display edges" .
Then depending of your display choice (solid with edge or withn't edges on the desk) you will be able to paint the objects without their wires.

I remember this problem annoyed me at the begining
