| ANyone else have crashing or freezing issues with Hex 2
ANyone else have crashing or freezing issues with Hex 2. I have a geforce 6800GT graphics card with 256mb ram, 1gb system ram, 350gb Sata drive and AMD 64 3500+ and Cant use Hexagon for any serious work. Driving me mad. I never had that issue with the Hexagon 1 demo or any other software for that matter and I am a heavy game player as well. .I really hope they can sort out these issues. I tried installing the latest beta drivers for my gfx card to see if that would help but nope. Same issues. Grrrrr. ;) Cheers Mike R

That stopped the rebooting of the pc but has not solved the freezing. I can get it to freeze if I CTRL-left mouse button for fast extrude. That will most of the time cause freezing. If I use the rotate icon along the bottom of the screen that will cause freezing at some point (Using ALT-left mouse doesnt seem to cause freezing YET). Hope it can be fixed properly. I really want to get on and use this potentially amazing app. Cheers Mike R

I have found the one issue that NEEDS to be changed in the drivers to make Hex work. If the Vertical Sync is switched off then it doesnt matter what other features in the drivers are enabled/disabled. the crashing and freezing stops. I no longer have any issue with freezing. I have switched off the Vertical sync on 5 different profiles to check that this is the ONE item that MUST be changed and it works. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction. Mike R

Another perfect example of what I am talking about, is that the Hex application in OS X will not let you select it to create a profile in my video card settings or my mouse settings. You can see the icon in the requester, but it is grayed out. I have an ATI Radeon X800 XT which should be able to handle most any application especially one in this price range ($1.99-$249) depending on who you bought from. We are talking about basic functionalities and premature release, not individual video card issues.

Confirmed on the inability to set up a custom profile on a Radeon card -- Also on Tiger. You know, it would be really handy to have a list of compatible video cards. But then, if they let themselves be pinned down on which ones worked and which didn't they wouldn't be able to scapegoat the cards for this buggy application. |

For everyone with a iMac G5 with a geforce FX 5200 64mb card,my problem is solved by setting the display option to "lowest" in the preference panel. Now it works much better. And it also calmed me down a bit ![]() Altough there are still some issues with the display especialy switching views in the control panel. Jack |
