What to run away with from DAZ

I think I joined DAZ when I bought Poser6 as it said I could download some free "goodies" which I still have never used.

I've got my copy of Hex2, it froze within 2mins of working with it so I'm sulking at the dam thing at the moment. I understand we get $100 voucher to spend on DAZ stuff which I'm going to do then cancel my platinum account.

Anyway has anyone spotted anything good in and around the fantasy gorillas in purple hot pants and kitchen sets for your 3D rabbits?

I'm thinking of getting Mimic pro software for poser $99.98 (Sale Ends: 4/30/2006 at 23:59:59) does anyone know anything about Mimic pro over the cheaper Mimic lite?

Any other good offers I'm missing? Should I really be buying 50 copies of Hexagon at $1.99 and selling them on EBay for $50 a pop?

There is the Total Textures Volume 8 (Vehicle) for $57. Total textures is a great texture series, not produced by Daz. http://www.3dtotal.com

Good call, DAZ also has quite a few free base models to download like Aiko 3.0 Base http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2866

I think their should be a prize given by DAZ as to who can find the most stupid or useless item. I would add the following!

Waraffe - The Waraffe is not like his docile ancestors. His tusks are designed to quickly gore anyone who happens to be unfortunate enough to cross his path. The momentum caused by the swing of his neck can inflict an unexpected amount of pain.

Anyone know how to actually use the voucher in the Daz store? I tried ordering the Total Textures V8, and it said I had $100 that would be applied (your card won't be charged if the total ends up at $0 blah blah blah), but my order info says that $0 from vouchers was applied (I did not check the "Do not apply vouchers" check box) and that they are waiting for me to go to paypal and pay the $70!!! My voucher balance is still $100.
So what is the proper procedure for applying the vouchers?

Ok, items that are really good values:
David and Stephanie base: 1.99 in pc
Mimic Pro
Pantomime
And a plethora of tools if you are interested in becoming a clothing/model creator.
But better wait til tonight, you may find a cheaper copy of Carrara coming for a little while. I am hoping they will bring on architools and the other plugs quickly too.

I will be very anoyed if any Carrara plugins come available after I buy something else. Mimic pro offer runs out in two days. Who do we have to speak to in order to find out about the Carrara software and plugins?

Are the various characters rigged for Carrara to manipulate or is this free DAZ Studio required?

The characters are poser content. They can be used in daz studio as well. The main benefit from using Poser as I see it, is setting up the character. I.e. bringing in hair and clothes, picking materials rapidly. That being said, I believe you can simply import the cr2 files and you wll bring in a boned character that is controllable via the interface on the right side. once you bring in a cr2 of a person, you can begin "import cloth" for clothing, and some hair types. Some hair must be imported normally, and parented to the head, though hair morphs should remain intact as well.

You have to register at DAZ to get your credit, you should have an email already with your Temp password.

I just posted a question about Carrara and plugins at the DAZ Carrara forum, below is my post.

Can someone say WHEN/IF Carrara Plugins will be available through DAZ?

I'm one of those who has a $100 voucher, why do I have a voucher because if I didn't I would be out of pocket due to DAZ offering Hex2 for $1.99.

Those of us (quite a few) people want to know if Carrara, its upgrades and various plugins will be available to buy on DAZ within the month our vouchers last?

More pressingly DAZ's offer on Mimic looks tempting but I need to know about the availability of Carrara tit bits before I buy (the deadline is on the 30th) two days.

We have a few side bets that Carrara stuff will be up but it will be after the Mimic deadline or even after the voucher deadline had passed away.

Its not that I'm cynical or anything... ok I' am! I really think that DAZ will do it this way to eat up the vouchers on pixie boots for Manga models that need a body morph pack and a dragon mesh to work and then reveal the Carrara stuff late on.

Bets anyone?

Hi Russell I have mimic pro and positively love it. Don't forget if you are a platinum club member - on Daz products you also get 30% off even when the item is on sale. All purchases, platinum or not, have a 30 day money back guarentee so if it doesn't fit your needs contact them and they will refund your voucher.

While I am here I want to thank you all for having this forum. I am new to Hexagon, only having modeled slightly in Cinema 4D, and your resources are of great value to those of us that are new to the program.
