Well, I think the 4th generation figures are close at hand, so dont spend it yet if you dont want to. Do you like Mimic?

This may not be quite that bad.

How long is the voucher good for.

If anything you can save it untill next update of hex and you get another free update (presuming its only 100$)

QUESTION:
What is the difference between Gift Certificates, Vouchers, and Coupons?

ANSWER:
Gift Certificates: Gift Certificates can be used on any product in the entire DAZ inventory, including Resell items. Gift Certificates can be used in partial amounts, as the remaining balance will remain on your account until it is used, or the Gift Certificate expires. Gift Certificates are generally good for a duration of one year from the time of creation. Gift certificates may be purchased and then givein to another user by giving the Gift Certificate code to them. Gift Certificate codes can only be redeemed once, and only to a single account.

Vouchers: Vouchers generally expire 30 days after the date they are issued, unless otherwise specified. Vouchers are good toward any Non-Platinum Club DAZ Originals in their full amount, and partially applicable toward Non-Platinum Club Published Artist products, generally around 50%. Vouchers can be used in partial amounts, the remaining balance will remain on your account until it is used up. Vouchers may have a numeric code or be automatically applied to your Account.

Coupons: Coupons generally have an expiration date that corresponds directly with the particular promotion that they are part of. The items they are applicable toward can also change. It is important to read all related promotional information before you use them. Coupons can only be used on a single order. Generally, coupon's can only be redeemed once per user, but there are exceptions. Coupons will always have a code, usually descriptive of the discount or promotion.

also i believe you also get a free Platinum Club membership which costs $100.

(psst AintNoSin - if you don't want the voucher, i'll have it )

Can the voucher be applied to Carrara plugins listed on the Eovia site?

Suddenly I am feeling a little better about Daz

Anyhow, at least we will have Hex 2 to play with this week, and if it lives up to its previews it will be one hell of a program as it stands. And while I am learning how to use it, hopefully Daz's roadmap for the future will become more clear and help decide my upgrade path

Now what can you buy for $100 on Daz's site that I can use in scenes for a general audience ....

Vouchers are only good thru the DAZ Store.

You have to claim your voucher in your account page at DAZ.

Unless DAZ incorporates the plugins as PA (Published Artists) items into their store or changes the store in the Eovia site to tie into theirs, I doubt it.

I would wait and see or check at DAZ in a day or so.

don't know, thats something you'll have to ask Daz. they'll probably put the Eovia products they acquired, well thats what i'm hoping, in the Daz Store so you can probably get it there.

they also sell other software and utilities

The membership they are giving away is the initial membership fee of $30. If you are already a member you get 4 additional free months added to your mebership. If you go month to month the monthly fee is $7.95 but you get a monthly $5 voucher towards purchases

The $100 price is for a yearly membership which I believe includes the $30 initial membership fee if i remember correctly. You also get the $5 monthly voucher.

Joining the Platinum Club gives you a bunch of benefits including a whole bunch of models for free and a 30% discount on all DAZ Original products including software.

last time i looked guys this was a modeling forum not a Daz / Poser one.
shape of things to come i think.
Daz can keep their platinum card and their membership for me.
things are going downhill rapidly here already as far as i can see.
personally ill be glad when they put their own forums up at the Daz site so i can advoid them.

blues dragon thanks for your info btw but seriously i dont want to buy your gold pack plugin and im probably not going to buy hex 2 either

I thought this was a HEXAGON forum.

This information is for people who bought the HEXAGON 2 pre-order and it relates to it.

You have stated your distaste for DAZ and anything related to them, we get the point.

You don't need to keep repeating yourself.

i was bored, surfing and lurking on the net, saw this thread and thought i help out a bit by explaining what vouchers are. boo me.

a good few people on Daz model as well and use hex, carrara, 3dmax, cinema4d and so on and don't just use Daz|Studio exclusively as a program.

And instantly the forum membership swells. Nome, sorry to see you not continuing on hex, are you also a Silo user? I am Cinema 4d and Hex/Carrara, but modo, the force is strong with that one.

I think it's ironic that such a grumpy, negative attitude comes from somebody who calls themselves "laughingnome." I guess people frequently hide behind paradoxical identities when they choose their web persona.

What's really funny is that the real world doesn't care if an animator makes their models themselves or not. So once you get outside of the exclusive, limited scope of the CG forums like this one, anything is fair game.

I've made lots of money off of animation done with Daz figures. Nobody knows. Nobody cares. On the job market, it absolutely doesn't matter.

The Daz "House Mouse", one of their oldest, simplest, cheapest figures (frequently given away for free) recently turned up on "Saturday Night Live" in a phony TV commercial parody.

Hey, laughingnome, welcome to the real world.

whats ironic jjsemp is ill answer almost any question regarding modeling in hex or amapi
even uv mapping but i tend to get a little pissed at vendors using forums to plug their work outside of the stores.
which is pretty much whats happening here btw.

scuse me if im a bit grumpy thanks for picking me out though.
guess thats cuase i dont like DAZ youre the third one tonight btw way to go DAZ crew.

Jtbullet ,
I have been using mimic for a few years with poser 5 and 6 and then importing the files into Carrara 5 pro and it works very well and mimic is easy to use
Now Daz has Carrara I expect to see a mimic version thats fully compatible with Carrara sometime in the future But if you buy mimic now Daz will have a good side grade price when mimic for carrara is finally made
