well thats not actually true. Remeber I went there hoping to be happy, In fact I even posted a thread here http://www.eovia3d.net/showthread.php?t=7313 complimenting them.

1st I guess u need to cut me some slack I guess ... Eovia got sold. To a content company ... not a software developer company. Among other issues that I have.

However, it is absolutly not true I hate DAZ ... its just that

1) they are a content developer and everything Ive seen so far is done to sell content.

2) I think they need a different image if there gonna take Hex and Carrera forward.

3) There totally comming thru on the promises about hex release etc and the nice gestures they made in the process has done alot to help.

BUT .... If u guys think that saying software is free ... and making it so that FREE is the thing that people see when they hit the site (U definatly dont see DAZ-STUDIO IS TELL-WARE ... IT REQUIRES A PROMISE FROM YOU.)

And then u get hit with it during the install is ... open and honest marketing ... it decptive, its cheap ... and yes I think it sucks.

Do I think DAZ sucks .... nope never said that .... Have I been afraid and mad that a content developer might not take care of Hex and Carrara ... U betcha ... and so have alot of people been. Am i sad at the loss of Eovia ... yep.

So cut me some slack .... but I think my point is still valid even if 1,000,000 people here or at the Daz site dont mind being required to market for a company if they want to use "FREE" software.

Just my two cents

Do you think crossing your fingers while ticking the box helps ?

Daz have never hidden the fact it is tellware. Throughout it's development and beta testing it has been tellware. There has never been any deception. And if you have a problem with a piece of software that asks you to tell two people and go to the lengths of the aggressiveness of one of your recent posts (that had to be edited by Thomas to tone it down) what is your reaction to Adobe and a few other popular free to download titles going to be that have things like toolbars as part of the setup procedures?

I think they needs to repackage themselves. Create a new company. There's just too many of us out there who cringe whenever we hear the name "DAZ."

Yeah, sort of MLM, like Amway.

Ok im settled down abit ... typed those last messeges while i was leaving work.

I guess just to make it simple. When a person (a new customer say) visits the site, one of the 1st things they will see is "DAZ Studio" FREE. And click the link and download it. I belive that DAZ knows this, In fact based on what Ive seen thats exactly the way its set up.

Thats how I percive it when I experienced the process mysalf and was offended. Just didnt like it.

Now as to why it bothers me so much ...

1) if the software is good ppl are gonna tell others about it anyway. (in fact I've heard it actually is pretty good)

2) Daz already receives a benefit from giving it away, because if people use it, the likelyhood that they will purchace content is greatly increased. In fact I believe this is a good bisuness move by Daz ... its smart.

3) If i make a promise I tend to feel obligated to do what Ive promised, I dont take promises lightly. For me, if a software company is going to require you to promise to do somthing so u can install the software ... its needs to be just as obvious and attention getting as FREE. In fact ... its not free ... you are giving a commitment in exchange for being able to intall and use it.

On top of all this its totally unneeded. And to me its a ploy that feels cheap. If it would have simpley said (like a nice request) "If u like this software ... tell a friend or two, it will help us out" That would have been cool.

-------

btw if I hated Daz ... would i have used an avatar with a Daz logo? . nope ... In fact Im trying the best I can to hop on board. But it doesnt mean I have to like everything I see either.

Hmm I just read ur post more carefully ... I think u have me confused with someone else. Thomas has never edited any of my posts neither have I done anything to require editing that Im aware of. I have simply (yes emotionally) in a very direct way expressed how I feel about certain things.

I have never attacked any person, or been unkind in anyway to anyone here ever.

If fact I have never addressed anyone by name unless it was complimentary.

What are u talking about ... I was hoping this discussion was a civil one. Why u picking on me. It is ok for me to feel the way I do about things and it is ok for u to dissagree. You adressed me by name ... I responded.

Thomas,

Many, many thanks! The Eovia Europe crew and yourself have done a wonderful job! Thank you!!!

Dan Roberts,

After I downloaded DAZ|Studio, I told me and myself (sleazy, huh?). Hey, who says a split personality can't be useful (so it's recent, and customized just for DAZ -).
