I think we all should ease on Thomas a little. Hes not responsible for anything going on att the moment(I presume) As he is trying to say he cannot speak freely about the subject, due to restrictions in contracts he has made with Evoia and so.

All corporate takeovers are about "hush hush dont say anything yet". The news is not
even out on The Evoia site is it?

Best thing Daz and staff could do is come out with a clear statement of what the future plans for the software are and as soon as possible.
Cause if the do plan to take Carrara 6 to a new level, people would like to know before
they switch software.

In my case if the direction is compability with Poser - Daz stuff(good pobability here) than Im outha here! No need to repeat it but Carrara need to improve in other abilities than poser support. Like lets say animation :-)

Exactly when will we 'normal' customers have an official announcement on exactly what is happening ? In particular, I don't like the sound of some of the quotes that Daz's staff are suggesting its not a good idea to pre-order Hexagon 2 (which I did as soon as it was announced)
Dan Farr at DAZ has said there will be a "public announcement" with many more details at 10 AM US-Mountain Daylight Time at DAZ's website.

Thanks guys
The only "bad" news is that Eovia Europe paid for the hosting and forum itself (VB is a paid forum). The good news is that if my Hexagon/Carrara DVDs sells are ok, the forum will continue... But even if It doesn't sell a lot, I'll try to do my best to keep it as long as possible. As you see, I have post more than 6000 messages here, and spend a lot of my free time for this community. I don't want it to disapear!

I am sure we all appreciate the effort that you put into this and understand you are probably frustrated by what is happening now and the limited information you can share.

I for one can say that it was this forum that helped to decide for me to purchase Carrara and hexagon, as this is such a useful source of material and support. Without this, the software is not nearly so appealing, and other forums I am a member of for 3D software are not nearly as useful. I hope this site can continue, even if it has to be subscription based.

I'm not going to blame anybody here for the negative comments about the deal. I will even commend them all because it simply meant: "THEY CARE". I'm sure those comments will lead DAZ to go in the right direction. I agree to the suggestion that DAZ should take a hands off approach when it comes to the development of these two great programs (Hex and Car), particularly Carrara. To me that is the right path. I'm certain that that will not only give them the good rep they badly needed, but it will even make their company financially sound.

So let's just hope for the best and look for any positive sign about this deal. Carrara+Hexagon are still excellent programs even in their current versions.

Complainers, we have been looking for true freedom from Poser for years. I love Poser, but I can't use it in my professional work. Let's all step back and give the boys a shot. Kai's vision of a unfied Bryce/Poser/Raydream has never been more achieveable. It'll be awhile before we know how it all plays out, but until then, we'll have hex 2 and v4 to play with. Not a bad deal eh? If Carrara 6 shows up with daz studio features built in, e-frontier will have to really raise the bar for Poser 7.

Regarding the future, strategy, future roadmaps of Hexagon and Carrara, the best is to communicate with Bob Stockwell, from Eovia Corp, bob.stocwkell@eovia.com.

I also have to remember you that it is my -personnal- forum, not an Eovia official forum. And I'm not so rich...

True considering all the potential customers for buying Hex (and Carrara) are now turning around, putting their wallets back into their pockets and walking out the announcement theater...

If I had known this ahead of time, I wouldn't have preordered either...

I've been using http://www.globat.com for my site hostings and they've been very good IMO and their prices is hella good for the packages you get.

As far as the msgboard software, there's always PHPBB

Ok u found a place where it says it is b4 u install it ... good .... but ur missing the point.

EDIT: Well actually u didnt ... there is no place i can see at least as readily as
FREE DAZ STUDIO were it says that in order to use the (infact even install it) you have to "give ur word" that u will tell two other people about DAZ. In fact that paragraph on that page says NOTHING about not even being able to install the software unless u agree/promise.

So even more so ... ur missing the point.

No instead of it saying something like
FREE DAZ STUDIO. its said some thing like DAZ STUDIO IS FREE TO YOU THROUGH OUR TELL-WARE PROGRAM click "here" or something to see if u want to participate b4 u download.

Id have no problem with it.

I thought your point, or one of them, was that you were annoyed about downloading software and only finding out afterwards that it was tellware.

I don't remember any DAZ customers complaining about this in the forums when DAZ Studio first came out. Maybe it only annoys people who are predisposed to be annoyed about DAZ, I don't know.

Leave it, Dan is one of those who wants to hate Daz and there is nothing you can say or do to stop him.
