This is terrible news. Changing development teams on a software package that was just starting to look really promising, right after the 2.0 release is the kiss of death.

I never thought Id own a piece of Daz software. :/

Right, and Corel pumped so much life into it and really looked after it. And Metacreations looked after it so well, right up to the point of just selling it for what they could get.

And the following remark does not make me feel any better. (I have pre-ordered HEX2!)

"P.S. For those of you who have not pre-ordered Hex2 don't do it yet.
There is some additional news that you should hear before you do."

This was posted by Dan Farr from DAZ over at Renderosity Poser forum in
response to some of the concerns regarding the announcements.

Thanks for doing this for your (ex)customers EOVIA! I have invested a lot of
money in EOVIA
software (Carrara 1,2,3,4pro and 5pro, Amapi 6 and 7designer, Hexagon 1 and 2)

Now you dump me and your software on the sidewalk of this content giant.

Feel free to comment on this EOVIA!
Don't you just love selective quoting.

Also from Dan Farr:
Even though we did not own Eovia at the time you made the pre-order I can assure you that we will do something for people who have pre-ordered. You will not "get the shaft" but will be getting more than you bargained for.

Dan

also
Otaku, as I said before, the acquisition has not affected the delivery of Hexagon 2. It is later than they had projected it to be which would have been the case no matter who's name was on the Stock certificates. If we would have owned it earlier, we would not have done the pre-sales. With that being said, it's development is continuing with the exact same team with it's exact specification and development schedule that it had prior to our purchasing the product.

What change in development team?

I cant give you any re-assurance other than restating that the team who has worked on Carrara will continue to work on Carrara and the team that has worked on Hexagon is still working on Hexagon. We are every bit as committed to see that these products will continue to develop as the last owners of Eovia were.

And before you gather your pitch-forks and torches and start shouting 'Heathen' in my direction, my take is wait and see. The only thing I am concerned about is the delay to Hexagon 2

"Don't you just love selective quoting." Well I can see you love it.
We just make different selections.

I used this selection because that remark made me feel like I was better off not to pre-order (but I already did). I mean that is what he say's "don't do it yet"

I'm not happy, you are! And we are both right. It does not help you telling me I'm wrong. I was explaining my feeling.

I wish you all the best with DAZ software, I'm gonna look for something else.

I am really sorry to not have been able to answer earlier. As an Eovia Europe employee, I am not able to answer to all questions, nor to comment the DAZ acquisition news. As it has been said by Dan on DAZ forum, the Hexagon 2.0 release will not be delayed, and will be followed soon by a 2.1 release. Regarding the future, strategy, future roadmaps of Hexagon and Carrara, the best is to communicate with Bob Stockwell, from Eovia Corp, bob.stocwkell@eovia.com.

I also have to remember you that it is my -personnal- forum, not an Eovia official forum. And I'm not so rich...

thanks for some clarification Thomas... but it must be alittle hard to take this news right before the start of your buisness to sell training DVDs for Hexagon?

I didn't selectively quote anything, I filled in the missing quotes you left out.

Who said I was happy? I said I will wait and see. In fact I am not happy. I wanted Hexagon 2 now as I need the new features on a few projects. The delay is down down software problems and not Daz. Problems not communicated to us by Eovia even as the 28th approached.

Carrara and Hexagon are now part of Daz and that's it. The sad part of modern life is that companies get taken over all the time (look at Alias) and saying you are going to go elsewhere isn't going to stop that which has already happened.

Still no change in the Eovia website (10.15 GMT), no obvious news on the Daz website (though some similar discussion in the forum), and I am not a member of Artzone so can't get in.

Exactly when will we 'normal' customers have an official announcement on exactly what is happening ? In particular, I don't like the sound of some of the quotes that Daz's staff are suggesting its not a good idea to pre-order Hexagon 2 (which I did as soon as it was announced)

Network rendering works okay, though it could be a bit faster. As for stability? Haven't had any problems with it. If anything, it seems more stable to me. Corel drove it into the ground and it's going to take a lot of work to fix - if it can be fixed at all.

Not me. I'm waiting to see what the effect is before I get mad.

I hope we all understand that Thomas cannot disclose information regarding the financial aspects of Eovia or make forward looking statements regarding them. Being an employee for a creative company he may have also signed an NDA or intellectual property agreement. In the coming days I'm sure more information will be released through proper public relations channels and then Thomas and Eovia Europe can get some sleep after working hard on Hexagon 2 to give us all the best product possible.
