Surface of models...

I have just a simple and maybe a little bit stupid question
Every Picture of 3d Model done with Hexagon has so a smooth surface.
Just everything so smooth. Is this caused by Hexagon or is it just a question of the the person doing the model? So is it possible to create more detailed and not so smooth modell? I think this should be doable but just wanted to ask... Because im going to buy a 3D Modelling Programm which doesn't cost about 1000 $ or more. And i think Hexagon would be really cool. If such models would be doable could somebody show me a picture or something like that? Thank you to every person who answers this dumb question from me

It's entirely possible. It all depends on the person making the model and what the model calls for detail wise. I don't have any images to show ya but as Hex is a modeler, it gives you what you give it. So, the details are totally up to the artist using the program.

So that the most modells i see are so smooth is just cause the author of it wanted a smooth surface? Is this a feature of Hexagon that you can get so smooth surfaces?

Is there a big difference between Carrara and Hexagon in modelling?

I'd say the less detail in your mesh the smoother the surface will be once you apply sub-division.

Carrara 5's Vertex Modeler is sort of a subset of Hexagon's features.

Models can be smooth or not, it is the choice of the user. Hexagon 2 will offer displacement painting so that small rough details can be applied to the model. Carrara does not have displacement painting. Hexagon has more tools and a better interface and workflow than Carrara's modelers. I'm assuming you know that Hexagon 2 will be strictly for modeling, displacement and texturing, while Carrara is a complete 3D program with rendering, animation, etc. If you are looking to become proficient and focus just on modeling, then Hexagon is what you need.
