Hex 2's painting.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to get answers, but...

I'm new to Hexagon in general, but I've been after a texture painting program for a fair while. Hex 2 looks like it's the right program, but I'm a little curious about the way it paints on textures. I've noticed it seems to 'reveal' textures, and paint on colour, but can it paint on textures like Deep Paint 3D, or Bodypaint, where I can have a small texture brush, and do things to it like rotate its angle? For example, if I have a brick texture, using something like Deep Paint I can brush the wall texture on normally, or on an angle. If all Hex2 can do is reveal a wall texture, that means in order to paint the wall on an angle, I'll need another layer (material zone?), which isn't quite as good.

Can someone fill me in on exactly what it does have? Just to reiterate- I realise that Hex2 can paint colour... I'm just not sure if it can paint textures in the same way.

Another thing I'd like to know is if the colour painting is changing the model's texture, or if it's simple colouring the vertexes.

Thanks!

When all else fails, just go to your FREEBEE copy of the 3D painting programme Tattoo! (Google search will get you there)

Uh, Tattoo is pretty bad.

I should mention, I'm asking about Hex2's painting because I'd like to grab it before the 'buy Hex1, get 2 free' offer vanishes. Otherwise, I'd grab the demo and give it a try.

If no one here knows, is there someone at Eovia I could contact?

Thomas, who owns this site, is THE Eovia man for us pretty well. You should get a reply when he gets home from Eovia tonight.

Currently (today, now ), Hexagon doesn't have this feature. Which doesn't mean that the final version won't have. Then, if not in the final version, it will be in a near release. Hexagon can't have all features for a 2.0 version... or we (Eovia) won't be able to ship it ;)
But the free updates will have good additions.
To conclude, perhaps in 2.0, or in a 2.x free update (like we did for 1.2: some major additions in a free update).

Thanks for the answer Thomas. I appreciate the way you guys are willing to adjust the program for the minority ;)

I'm still a bit curious though- exactly which feature doesn't Hex 2 have? For example, is the painting vertex only, or is it on the texture? Deep Paint 3D and Bodypaint create a texture for the model and then you edit that texture real-time. By the sounds of it, Hex 2 paints vertex maps and then mixes that with revealed textures to a final exported texture. It's only the blending of the 'texture layers' and vertex paint which is real time, not the editing of the texture itself.

Am I correct about this, or wrong?

Thanks again.

No, Hexagon works only on textures, no vertex painting. You only edit the texture you apply (a default blank one or a map you loaded), and everything realtime.

Hexagon 1.2 added major additions, and it was a free upgrade. I don't see why stoping on a 1.2 ;)
