Nuke Getting Hexagon 2: it is a Mistake??

I’m beginning to think pre-ordering Hexagon 2 might be a big mistake for me. I have a love/hate relationship with Hexagon for the most part I like the workflow of Hexagon.

However here are a few items in Hexagon that I hate….

1. I can’t draw a simple S curve at all in Hexagon.
2. I having problems with Hex made items disappearing in Carrara 5.1 Pro.
3. I can’t keep the groups from Hexagon to C5P

I have tried using both Wavefront (.obj) and Carrara (.car) formats to import the files in to Carrara.

I made U Joint yoke for vehicle in Hexagon. I start by making a U shape object the chamfering the edge that need to be. Then I take an arc & line & capping the ends to create a D shape to for the curve ends of the U Joint yoke arms after thicking the D shapes to the thickness of the U shape I welded them together after aligning them to arms making the yoke a single piece. It’s all there in Hexagon but in Carrara 5 the D shapes are gone.

All of this is starting me to second guess if I made a mistake pre-ordering Hexagon 2,

I use Hexagon with Carrara 5 pro all the time. Have never had a problem getting Hex models into Carrara. With the .car format I get domains and everthing to transfer just fine.

You should probably contact Eovia support with the problems you are having.

Hey

I would not say it was a mistake, , it is application in progress, IMHO, it could be called mistake if you preordered Bryce6 for example

Looks like developers listen it's user base a lot, if something is pushed enough, it will appear on feature list. Second thing, if you already preordered, you prolly already like it enough to suspect that you are gonna like this one even better !

On the other hand (im not saying that this happend in your case) if you preordered just to feel good or be cool (some ppl did this, i'm afraid) or you are simply a compulsive shopper, it's probably still not too late to cancel.

Of course, feature list should be your only guideline, if you need them in your current workflow, then decision to buy it is good one (money wise). It is your call after all, you know the best do you realy need it. Good luck. Cheers

1.two arcs snapped together is not what you want?
2.i have not had anything disappear even unused line segments transer well, can you recreate this problem repeatedly.
3.all my groups carry over when using the .car export, have to check .obj.
u-joint:
can you post a screenshot of this in hex or better yet post the .hex file to help troubleshoot?

I use OBJ export exclusively and have never had a problem importing into another program.

I get my normals flipped on some polygons sometimes, but that is my issue and not the programs.

My groups (if I remember correctly) and material zones (domains) are all there too.
