Edge Hardness

Is there a way in Hexagon 1.2 to make an edge hard or crease an edge? I've searched the documentation, and come up with nothing.

Yup, it is a really good tute IMO, taught me a lot of the subd modelling basics in Hexagon.

Pretty easy to follow also.

Good tutorial, but I'm comparing packages right now, and the fact that I can't have hard edges without creating more geometry is a bit of a disappointment. You could make all those lens transitions so much more "mechanical" if you could crease an edge. Seems like it's a pretty standard thing in most modelers (Maya, XSI, Silo, Modo, etc.). Wings even has it. It's a shame that Hex doesn't have it, because I really like the modeler. But since I use it all the time, Hex falls a little short in the race. Maybe they could add it into v2. Thanks for the info, though. The attached picture shows a cube sub d'd 3 times in Maya where the top edges have been taged as "hard". The second picture is from Wings.

Creased edges are included in Hex 2. You should check out the features list:

In Hex2 there will be edge creasing as shown here http://www.eovia.com/products/hexagon/hexagon2.asp on the eovia hexagon page if you do not want to add loops

In the meantime, something to play with in Hex 1.2 is the Bezier smoothing model ('Smooth' tool is the 1st tool under 'Surface modeling'; Bezier option is the 3rd icon in the first 1st row of the Tool Properties icons) with its sub-options including 'Tensions' and 'Partial Smoothing' (2nd row, 3rd and 4th icons). See the Hex manual for details. May need to collapse the DG (I know, creates geometry. Oh well, Hex 2 is coming.) for export.
