Thomas, are you showing us how fast Hex 2 is? Like at 5th level of smoothing soft selections could still move around smoothly? That's what I figure. My PC will grind to a halt at 3rd level with that many polys. Looking forward for more sample vids. I'm in no hurry for Hex 2. Just make it perfect. ;-)

"level 5 smoothing" means nothing it depends of the geometry on which your smoothing is apply... and also, your processor, CG, etc. But it's a lot faster than on Hexagon 1.x.To be honnest, when I model, I never apply a smoothing higher than 2. |

A last one before going to bed: The UVs! This is on feature the most requested (in our top 3). I can't show you all UV editor features, but I think you will like this one: UVunfold, to do a semi automatic unfold of your UVs! On the top of the screenshot, the UVs before, and bottom, UVs after! Just a quick note: All selection modes and tools are working in the UV editor : loop, ring, lasso, paintmode and the 3D manipulators (then, in 2D) Enjoy! |

The UV unfolding looks really excelent good, I too have been guilty of wandering off to the modo site looking with longing at their Uv unwrapping tool as its one of the boring things that really eats up my time. Would probably upgrade just for this, mind you would probably upgrade for any new toys no matter what, as Im a sucker like that. I guess its good that the high poly manipulation has been implemented, but its a sort of core capability feature I havent had to use that sort of count before, and like 'he who must be humoured' says I rarely smooth more than 2X, so as a number of other people have mentioned, I hope its some sort of displacement painting normal thingy something that will magically make all my models more detailed. |

Favid: yes, still gizmos, and also, the cubic gizmo added. As I say on my message, I can list all the UVs tools, but you will find the tools to detach, weld, display by domains, the tool which name start by "r" and finish by "x", etc. ;)

The Question is which will be released 1st ? silo2 or hex2? Silo2 release has been delayed for a while , it will be interesting to see who wins the race ![]() I like silo and Hex but Hex has become my main modelling app ![]() I will probberly upgrade them both

Well Eovia claims April so unless Nevercenter pulls a fast one, we'll be displacement painting (sans ZBrush) in a coupla weeks! In my book, Hex is ahead right now (based on the existing lines toolsets and dynamic geometry) since both will have displacement painting and UV editing... Whats to be seen is the quality of the upcoming toolsets and how streamlined are the workflows of the tools with each package. Based on looking at the videos, Hex also seems to be way more ready for release than Silo... -Will |
