restricting tweak to a specific axis when modelling?

I'm trying to tweak specific points but only want them to move in the y direction - I thought perhaps that locking a plane may achieve this, but that didn't appear to work.

Is there a way to do this ?

Regards

Are you trying something that can't be done by selecting the point(s) and then using the y axis move on the selection controller (I forget exactly what it's called, but the mini-set of axes you get with the seelction)?

Or you can use the stretch tool in the Utility tab. Hit Space to add constraints

Thanks both.

I had wondered whether their was a keyboard shortcut to constrain per axis whilst tweaking, but apparently not.
