Applying shading domains to dynamic geometry

I'm reworking a model in Hexagon. It contains numerous objects with chamfer dynamic geometry which need to be set to a shading domain along with their regular companion objects.

To get me started, I want to set the whole model to a base shading domain so I can pick out the exceptions later. No matter how I select all objects and their faces, only the non-dynamic geometry objects take the SET operation.

Selecting an individual dynamic geometry object doesn't help.

Collapsing the dynamic geometry gets round it but the dynamic geometry is there for a reason, so I can tweak it.

Windows XP Professional SP2, Hexagon 1.21

Any ideas ?
