System Hang After Smoothing

I'm encountering a problem that after applying smoothing to a model, the system hangs somewhat. I've been trying the tutorial on the sportswatch in the tutorial forum, and have gotten to the point where I'm creating the hard edges for the watch lens, so if you check the tutorial you will see that I don't have a huge amount of geometry. It doesn't appear to be slowed by calculations since the hang occurs after the smoothing, and I'm only applying at most two levels of smoothing. The hang isn't complete either, if I move the mouse, about thirty seconds later the position of the mouse is updated on the screen. But I cannot click anything or open task manager to see what the status of the system is. I'm not running much in the background, and the only other open program is Adobe Acrobat. My system exceeds minimum requirements for the program; I have a P4 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, and an ATI FireGL T2 video card.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? I've attached the .hxn file.

Hello,

I have tested your file here and does not have such a problem.
First, I uses Hexagon 1.21 ; if you did not install the last patch yet, please download it and install it :
http://www.eovia.com/resources/downl...te_hexagon.asp

Maybe it could be due to a problem with the graphic card ; you can update your drivers to the latest version, and see if this solves the problem.

If not, you can remove the preferences file (sometimes it becomes corrupted) :
- exit Hexagon, go into the installation folder of Hexagon (by default, it is "C:\Program Files\Eovia\Hexagon", and rename the file "hexagon.preferences" to "old-hexagon.preferences"
relaunch Hexagon then and see if this resolve the problem :
- if yes, please can you send the file "old-hexagon.preferences" to europe_support@eovia.com ?
- If this do not solve, you can exit Hexagon and restore your preferences (by renaiming the file "olg-hexagon.preferences" into "hexagon.preferences").
Then contact me directly at europe_support@eovia.com ? I will try to see what the problem is and help you to solve it.

Thank you,

Xavier - Eovia support.

Should I create a new hexagons.preferences folder after renaming the old one, or will the program be okay without it?
