Curve Tool Enhancements

Bezier Curve Tool
  1. Append New Curve To Start/End - both Interpolated and Spline Curve objects allow the user to append curves to either the start or end of an existing curve but this feature is not supported for Bezier Curves.
  2. Insert Control Points - currently, inserting a new control point in an existing Bezier Curve breaks the operation of Bezier Curves.
  3. Stretch Tool Uniformity - using the Stretch tool, users cannot change tangency associated with an existing control point. Since the Stretch tool is the only method that can be used to edit existing Bezier Curves, this tool should have the same functionality present during Bezier Curve creation.

Interpolated and Spline Curve Tools
  1. Control Point Tension and Bias Parameters - currently, only Bezier Curves support kinks, corners, and discontinuities. If the user isn't using Bezier Curves, they are forced to add more CP's unnecessarily. These parameters should also be accessible when using the Stretch tool.

Blend Curves - this tools is present in many applications dealing with industrial design. Including this tool in Hexagon's repertorie will be a great boon for those working with both CAD and CAID tools. This tool should support blending position, tangency, and/or curvature of the source and target curves.

I never use bezier curve, quite frankly, at this point at least, but I don't mind Hex coders improving them. Maybe I'll have use for them in some application someday. Right now I mainly use the simple Curve tool, and the Polyline especially. Hexagon is a subdivision modeler anyway. Any kinks, however big, will be smoothed instantly by subdivision. Beziers in Hexagon generates a lot of unnecessary points/verts, which makes a high polygon counts when use with surface tools. Don't know if I'm right here. I'm on a 3d rookie point of view... Again, it never hurts improving tools.

True bezier curves

Totally agree that Hexagon needs much better bezier curves. The way bezier curves are implemented in the spline modeler in Carrara is fine. It would make Hexagon a much better modeler. Right now free form styling is good. Yet it is very difficult to copy an existing line, even if it is not very complicated. Complicated drawings /lines cannot be copied. That's really a pity
