>> Have you downloaded it recently? I downloaded the Amapi 6.1 installer on october 13 As I understand there should be an installer for os9, but it appears to not function I.m guessing because the resource fork of the executable was destroyed in process of zipping it. The zip file is 56.2 Mb (58,961,556 bytes) |

Well, I am still having a problem getting a workable installer after two trips to the city and I have used all the incantations I can think of. Is there another way to accomplish this for people who's home computers are sipping the internet through a very small straw? What I am asking is; if I had the serial number from the free 6.1 download available at Eovia.net, that I can't get because of download problems, would that enable a copy of the 6.1 demo that I do have? I am not trying to pirate anything just trying to overcome a half speed dial up connection that keeps me from downloading the newest toys. Regards, Don |

Downloaded it today and got a 25.3 MB Installer (in an almost 100 MB folder) that is a document only and can't be started. Even with Classic installed here. Is there no way to make the system requirements clear BEFORE i have to download 53 MB and sit here now with something obviously unusable. |

I'm sorry, but both Amapi for PC and Macintosh have been tested today and work perfectly. If you have any connection problem, I don't know what I can do to resolve that. Perhaps you can contact your ISP directly? Amapi PC was installed on two idfferent PC with WinXP SP2 Amapi Mac was installed ona G5 1.8 under classic (emulation, not a boot under OS9.2) |

I have absolutely no problem to download the file. The problem i have, as others, is that the stupid (sorry for that) compression killed the resource fork of the installer application. And therefore the installer is not recognised as application anymore. |

Well, so i have an unzipped zip file that does not work on my system. As a couple of others have reported here too. DMG or Stuffit that does not destroy resources would have been a much better solution in my eyes. And a note about system requirements so that i can decide wether i want to download the file or not would have been a nice touch as well. I simply will forget all this, delete the file and look for other modellers. |

Amapi is a very nice modeller indeed, I am definitely getting it with Carrara5, hope that is still on, didn't check the site in a couple of days. I have 6.1 running in Classic on 10.4.3. The wierd thing is, downloaded installer that I saved for any future reinstallation doesn't expand correctly anymore. But I used this installer to install it a month or two ago. This time I am expanding it using Expander 10, Untar. Both of them result in blank page icon for installer that is not recognized as an app. I think when I install it I used Expander 9 to uncompress it and it somehow worked. Now it doesn't work anymore, but at least I have workable installation now. Hope you sort it out somehow. Cheers, Douglas |

Ok, yesterday i stood at the abyss, today i am one step further. Finally i found a way to unzip the file correctly. To get a working installer. BUT, now on whatever disk i try to install Amapi i get a message that i need more GB on that disk. The one with 22+GB free brings - you need additional 1.9 GB, the other with 7GB free needs 0.9 GB additional space. I assume that those messages are wrong and only an indication for another error. Is there a reason why it needs to be so difficult really? How about to publish system requirements? Especially on os and zip expander! |

@wabe: what system are you running? 10.3? 10.4? which machine? have you tried the usual maintenance steps? how did you unzip the download? there really has to be something wrong on your side of things, and FWIW the installer contains a resource fork (664 K in size) after unzipping. so if anything, it either is your browser, your unpacker-app, your system or setup. not saying it's your fault, but the download provided by eovia unpacks perfectly on my machine, using nothing but apple's built-in unzip mechanism (no need for stuffit here, dunno why some people are using it)...

Something is wrong on my side? I tried it now on two Macs. One has 10.3.9 on it - where i was able to unzip the file but got the error on the installer. The other 10.2.8 - unable to unzip correctly and same problem in the installation. That is why i asked for specifications. I am surprised that an installer running under classic mode seems to need 10.3 or 10.4. Isn't it not possible to tell us what you use and what is minimum needed so that i don't have to guess and waste a lot of time? |

Sorry for repeating some stuff again but just to make sure. Your Amapi .zip archive is 56.2 MBs or thereabouts. If your Amapi .zip archive has some third party icon as a default use right-click contextual menu to get to "Open with..." From there select "BOMArchiveHelper" Amapi installer file is 26 MB after uncompressing it. Installs without a problem on any disk. Sorry if you were doing this already. My problems came from using some third party utilities that were not expanding the archive properly. Rely on built-in tools. OS 10.4.3 Douglas |

Yes I know what you mean. But on the other hand in recent times I noticed that Stuffit went from indespensable tool on OS9 to completely unreliable compression utility. I've tried only free version, though. This Amapi issue is not the only one where I 've got weird results from Expander recently ( I think somewhere from version 8 I started having odd problem here and there). Anyway as fehnman said we should rely on built-in tools. I kept using expander for some stupid nostalgic reasons since OS7 but since OSX there is really no reason to even have it on your drive. | Amapi 6.1 Mac serial number
Hi, I have just downloaded Amapi 6.1 which is claimed to be a free download, but there doedn't appear to be a serial number included in the download. Can anyone tell me where I can get a serial number. Thanks, Terrence |
