adaptive/crack-free vs. standard

so here's a question:

why does amapi even allow "standard" NURBS anymore? i've noticed that a lot of operations produce less-than-beautiful results in standard mode, but are flawless with adaptive/crack-free, and i've not come across one tool that required standard NURBS to work correctly.

if this is the case, why would eovia still program standard NURBS into amapi? is it a compatibility issue? for export purposes? couldn't they simply program in a conversion layer when exporting to certain formats to convert to standard NURBS?

i've just been wondering about this.

because adaptive is more faster for a lot of operations. You only need to switch to crack free for the export.
You can set in preference the kind of tesslation before you export your scene, or even, which kind of tesslation with which export format

Shonner : because working in crack free all the time is a big processor process and it's not allow for everybody...

I understand now why you have such problems with Amapi... if you work in crack free, on Win 98 with a PIII 800Mhz, 512 Mb of ram and a 32 Mb video card... :|
