| How to use surface tools...for starters.
I am trying to learn Amapi v.5.15 that came with the Carrara Studio v.3 package and the tutorials and help files are really lacking. I can not find sufficient instructions on how to use the surface tools: Hull. Coons and Gordon or Ruled Surfaces. Sweep and Double Sweep are equally confusing and the Extrusion tool seems to work more like a lathe than an extrusion process. Does anybody have some really detailed, descriptive tutorials for Amapi that are suitable for beginners learning the tool? Amapi looks like a genuinely great modeller. but lack of instruction really shoots the enthusiasm down. |

I've been going over them just today, even looking at the tutorials for version 6...but I notice enough differences in certain tools between 5.15 and 6 to mess me up. Like the tesselate tool, you have control over features of it in v.6 that you don't have in v.5.15 But some of the stuff in the .v.6 part is applicable and helpful. Maybe I'm impatient. :? |

Hi Shonner, Yes, I found another manual, but it's in .html and not a .pdf. It's much more thorough than the one I was looking at before. I'll poke around and see if I was given a .pdf too. This new one will probably keep me quiet for a while. Thanks. |

Many of the new tutorials for Designer can apply to the older Amapi but the older versions lack some new functions and dynamic geometry. For the most part All versions work pretty much the same as far as user interface so what you learn in the older ones is never lost. Here a link to a site that has some basic tutorials: http://www.staigerland.com/amapi/ PP |
