Hello and a little help for a newby

Hi to all the list,
I am new in the use of the 3d (and in this list, of corse), I have carrara 4 pro, and also amapi designer 7, amapi is very beautiful, but I have some difficulties. Reading the post in this forum I have found this link:
http://mr2k.3dvf.net/tutorials/max/tutorials.htm
(tutorials made for 3D Max) and have begun to make the first tutorial.
I have constructed the lines of the head, the mouth and the eye, but I don't understand were I can join two points of two different polylines... (I attach a little screenshot) I have tried to use the weld tool but... or I don't understand or I don't use the correct procedure.
Someone can help me?

Thank's
Paolo
