| Few questions regarding 7.5
I downloaded Amapi pro 7.5 demo days ago and here are some questions I have : 1. There is not measure tool for radius so how can I measure radius of already made arc ? 2. I have problems in order to be able to introduce manually dimensions for any object from numeric editor. For example I want to start line in x,y,z coordinates set to 0,0,0 but I only can introduce x coordinate with double clic for x but can´t do the same for y and z. 3. I am unable to select all objects (all lines) when I use lasso select tool. Well I will probably have more questions leater and will appreciate any help. |

hi jerzy! i just picked up the 7.5 demo as well (filling the gap until my full copy arrives) and while i haven't encountered the last scenario on your list, lets see if i can help you with the first two: 1) it is not possible to directly measure the radius of an arc (i guess that's a wishlist item for release 8), however, i do have a workaround for you. using the snap constraints, make a polyline with one end at the centerpoint of where you want to place your arc. then using that endpoint create your arc from there. this will provide you with a center point and an edge to take your measurement off of, providing you a radius in the form of a distance. (see the picture below) 2) as far as manually entering numbers for coordinates, i've always used the tab key to get to the coordinates dialog, enter one number, press tab, enter the next, press tab, enter the third, press tab, then press enter. my first point happends to go where i wish, and from there on you enter the points relative to the last point you placed. hope this helps some. sorry i can't give you some advice on your last point, though. cheers!

Deadlyhead thank you for help. measurement for radius seems nice solution until real raduis measure tool is added. Regarding precise numerical input in parameter pallette doesn´t work properly. When I switch to parameter edit mode clicking on numerical palette I only can enter "X" coordinates, then clicking on "Y" coordinates nor clicking Tab nor up/down arrow keys allow me to switch to Y or Z coordinates. When I want to start draw a line I can choose only between "X" and "Range" and "Degree" but can´t enter in "Y" and"Z" when I press on down arrow key it do the same: jump directly from X to Range and Degree fields. |

I'm expecting even more improvements to the professional modeling tools in amapi pro between now and the release of 8. i'm really looking forward to improvements on constraints and measures, like adding radii measurements, etc. as for your other dilemma, i'm still not quite seeing your problem. i suppose a big thing with my entering of numerical data is i never move my mouse when entering coordinates via the parameters dialog. amapi takes mouse movement to mean placing the point by mouse click. instead, like i said, i hit tab to get into the parameters pallet, and then i enter the values one by one, hitting tab after i've entered a value to go to the next field. when i'm done entering all of them, i hit enter until it's reflected in the work space (usually two enters, i think). it this isn't working for you, though, i'm at a bit of a loss. i can't duplicate what you've come across. sorry 'bout that.

An easy work around since the measure tool doesn't snap to center of origin. Try making a reference point such as the end of a poly line. You can then draw the radius from one of the verts and then use the measure to snap from the vert to start or end of the radius. I typically use the nurmeric entry when using the radius tool as I do most objects if they come from a blue print or measure from an actual object. PP |
