How to make a circle?

I'm trying to draw a circle in NURBS mode. How do I keep the circle from sticking in the corner of the BREP?

Are you trying to draw a circle by yourself, without using "circle preset in the tool ?
Because i can obtain something like you by drawing with the "Curve" tool ....

If you do that, the last and the first point don't have interpolation for creating the end of the circle.
Don't forgot to use while drawing the option for close the open curve, can help in many case.

Sorry if you use the circle tool .... i just try to understand what's happen.

When I use the Circle Tool, I get this result. But I don't want the four points on the circle. When I pull on the corners of the box, the points on the circle create creases. I don't want that. What I want is a nice tangent curve instead.

If you want a perfect circle with only 4 control vertex, you cannot if I'm not wrong...

I don't really understand why you need that ...
Could you explain why you want 4 control points ?

So I can then pull on a BREP corner and have the circle stretch inside it while keeping smooth curves (no creases). How do I tell a circle's curve to hug or not to hug a BREP point?

I extrude from these lines to get the exact 3D shapes I want. But if I can't even control the lines first... not good.
