Shiny HEX 2.5 affecting workflow??

Hey all,

Got the upgrade but haven't loaded yet. I thought I read somewhere that v2.5 dropped the "pg up/ pgdn" shortcut for the sub-d. This true? If so, any other tools dropped from HEX2? Little drops like that will affect the great work flow that HEX has right now in v.2

When I look at the DAZ site there are threads on SL and importing problems. I have not seen threads on dropped tools.

While I'm at it, I might as well ask if you think it's worth the update if you do NOT use SL, DS, or poser?

Yes, the pg dn shortcut is broken. However the point order bug is supposed to be fixed (not tried it myself). So if you are swapping .obj files with other apps then it is probably worth upgrading.

Really unbelievable that nobody caught this in beta testing! Did they not model anything?

@ Dooki - 2.5 does not overwrite the installation of 2.2. So you can have both installed at same time...

I'm a registered user of Hex 2.2.
Purchased it from Eovia.
I've tried to download the 2.5 upgrade with no luck.
I've tried all the instruction given at the Daz3d forum.

Can anyone on this forum share the upgrade, being that it's free-and-all to all registered users.

Thanks in advance,
Gustavo

Even though it's free to all users, it's still against the licensing policy to share. Anyway there is really not much reason to upgrade unless you need the new features. The modeling function are nearly same as 2.2

page down is broken.
did they model anything , who knows?

did they beta test ?, i dont know or care to be honest.
its a damn shame, they have a world class subD modelor and they have no idea what to do with it except make it DS compatible.
this could end up as a rant so i'll stop.
Piem said it right i'll stick with 2.1

Yeah Gustavo, I was able to DL the update but I will not use it. EVERYTHING I have read now leans towards "NO," unless you are into SL and DS.
Stu is right, it is a REAL shame that all they could do was to make it bridge to DAZ Studio. What's worse, they disabled sub-d keys.

I thought the point order was supposed to be fixed in this version, however I find that I can export an obj to maya OK but hex scrambles the UVs when I go back from maya to hex in obj format. Let me know if this is an issue with hex reading other 3d apps.

Too bad for 2.5 maybe in hex 3.

Puke

I have to say I installed it and I'm ready to now uninstall it - I certainly don't care about Daz Studio and seeing the add-ins for that second life crap just adds insult to injury...

I tell ya, Hex has been a unique brand of bad taste in my mouth for sure.

They prolly should have named this program something other than Hex...

Thanks dude.
I'll keep using 2.2 and pray for fixes in v3.0

Apart from the point order thing with Maya export, I cant find too much to complain about. Is anybody else finding it OK?

on the french side someone has also the both keys working. But it seems that he did not deinstall hex2.2 but directly applied hex 2.5 on it...
