Question How to control taper of "hair"

I'm hoping that I understand the section correctly - I can't believe that there are no Carrara threads at all and mine will be the first - wow!

The question:
I am not really wanting to do Carrara "hair" as hair, but rather as freshly cut grass. I don't want the individual blades ("hairs") of grass to come to a point, but rather just be slightly tapered to a blunt (snipped-off) top edge.

As far as I can tell there is no way to control the taper of the hair/grass. Is there a control for this?

This brings up another question - I will look at Digital Carver's guild to see if he has an "anything grows" (or whatever he called his hair grower plug-in) for Carrara 6. Would his plug-in offer finer control - such as taper - for the "hair"? I used the plug-in several years ago, but haven't kept up with the advancements.... anyway, I thought I would see if anyone had an opinion about the plug-in vs. the built-in.

Thanks

hair wont work
I would try the replicator.
just model a few blades and clumps of blades, and put them all in a replicator
i guess it depends on what look you are going for

I can try that... I have to do animations showing wimpy grass turning into lush thick green grass... sound like it is getting pretty complicated.

thanks for the idea...

[edit]: Just went to the Digital Carver's guild website... it is as I recalled, the grass plug in does have a "taper" control.... http://www.digitalcarversguild.com/p...hp?ProductId=5

You can set the thickness of the root and the tip in the hair shader. (0-100%)
The lenght as well (0-100%)
Shaders can be animated, so that may be a quick solution.?

Thanks!
I had not investigated the hair shader too well. I assumed that grass controls would be in the modeling hair room with the other hairy parameters.

Nice animation.. cool.

anything grows will do it, it may over load if your computer isn't fast enough and you try and do a very large area. he actually has a demo on how to do flowers with it.

you can completely replace a hair with an image map and make what ever you want.

you can also section the hair and do just a map on the tip I believe.

haven't used it much in some time but he does have updates for 6
